Trump and RFK Jr. to Ban COVID-19 Vaccine ‘Within Months’

Anonymous
Update:
“In an update today on Bluesky, the Times reported that CVS has said it can offer the vaccine in 13 of the 16 states with a doctor's prescription, which still adds a barrier to vaccination. The vaccine is still apparently barred in Massachusetts, Nevada, and New Mexico.”

BARRED.

Perhaps that’s why most doctors aren’t recommending it for kids and healthy adults any longer?

FTR I got the original vax and was boosted, but I haven’t opted for continual covid vaccines. I’m also a lifelong liberal who would never vote for a R. But my pediatrician stopped recommending the covid vaccine a while ago based on “the science,” so I feel like research has evolved.

Instead of a knee-jerk reaction, perhaps there is a middle ground?

This is such a sensible response. As a middle aged late woman home right now with my first ever bout of Covid, even I support a common sense, open-minded understanding of this topic. For healthy people, the risks of the vaccines simply do not outweigh the risks of Covid. I don't feel great right now, but it's just a bad cold. I had the first round of shots and no boosters. Too many in the medical community are coming out with new recommendations about the safety and efficacy. I wish people would just be more open-minded instead of jumping right to insults of people who happen to have a different perspective.

You are full of it and don’t know what you are talking about. I’m in the same demographic as you and had Covid 8 months ago. Still struggling with altered taste buds and congestion. My doctor has told me it can take 1-2 years to resolve fully.

Also my WBC’s have mysteriously dropped and they are not sure if this is Covid related or not.

So, please present this mysterious data of which you speak!

Not to mention that no one knows what the implications of COVID may be in the years to come.

Right. The backlash over extended covid policies got us Trump again.

I live in Massachusetts and this news has me sick to my stomach tonight.

I had called around earlier in the week and nobody has the new vaccine in stock yet supposed to be released mid September but who knows - maybe they won’t let us have it at all. If the corporate shills at Walgreens and Walmart follow in CVS’s footsteps . . .

I’ve left a message with my doctor’s office to see if they can administer the vaccine but I’m sure they don’t have newest updated vaccine in stock yet either. And maybe this administration isn’t going to let it be released.

Canada needs to offer mass vaccination to US citizens at their border cities - obviously we’ll have to pay whatever they ask but this is a humanitarian issue.

RFK Jr. wants the ‘mitochondrially challenged’ to just die, I think.

Nobody thinks this is more asinine than me but it’s not barred-this means (until states change their regulations) the pharmacist can’t just give it to walk ins-if you get an rx from your doctor (which is for sure a hassle and will prevent many people from having access) you can still get it.

CVS isn’t honoring prescriptions for COVID vaccine in Massachusetts - or New Mexico or Nevada. Not sure why we get totally screwed but that’s what they’ve decided.

One can only assume that other corporate shills at Walgreens Walmart etc. will follow suit as they attempt to curry favor with the fascist dictator in the WH.

Thanks MAGA voters.

By reporting it as though it is happening (while DJT is on TV talking about Operation Warp Speed as his great achievement, no less!), this piece is furthering that aim.

This post did not age well.

But would you be able to get one from your doctor if you live in one of those states and meet the criteria?

Doctors' offices rarely have them on hand.

I really miss the days of the free COVID vaccine clinics in DC. The whole family could go together. It was so convenient.

This is funny. Everyone on this thread wants the US healthcare system to be more like Europe and Canada, until it comes to the Covid vaccine. Someone upthread said Canada should be immunizing US citizens at the border. Do you know that Canada, like the EU, only vaccinates adults over 65 and those with certain conditions? Their restrictions are even tighter than these new US conditions. Literally, over half the US can get the vaccination because obesity is one of the conditions that makes one eligible; as is anxiety and depression. Pretty much everyone on this site is covered. So to call this a "humanitarian" crisis is beyond hysteria. And comes from a place of complete disinformation.

Not in the states listed above. Not even a scrip will get you the vaccine. It’s written into the state law, if it’s not approved -it is not allowed.
Some states with dem governors are looking into how to work around that.

Stop with the lies. Canada strongly recommends it for vulnerable groups (not only age based), and makes it available to everyone, suggesting an annual booster is enough for average risk individuals. Canada also updates its guidance based on the latest statistics and scientific findings, noting that any “common” side effects (meaning those occurring in 10% or more people), such as a sore arm, are typically mild and transient.

I’m sorry to point it out, but you are incorrect.
1.In Canada, anyone can be immunized with Covid vax once a year, and those high risk can be immunized twice a year.
2. Due to individual state laws in the USA, vaccines cannot be released if they are not approved by fda and ACIP. RFK has fired ACIP and tried to force cdc director to sign off on fake documents. This now means they are banned in a few states and require prescription AND proof of high-risk condition in order to get one.

This has been widely reported and clarified by reputable news sources in the past 24 hours.
