What do you want to buy that you have zero need for?

Amen, sister.

Hence the inclusion of it in this thread. Not needed but wanted.

Exactly, the heart wants what the heart wants!

I guess jewelry? I feel like everything I want, I want because I have a use for it. That use may be a bit frivolous — like an espresso machine when I can make coffee in a cheap drip coffee machine? I guess I don’t really understand the question!

I have a bedding obsession. Sheets, duvet covers, quilts, pillows. I love coordinating a bed "look."

So I kill time happily looking on Amazon and Etsy and Crane at stationery I'd like - this one for letters, that one for thank you notes, etc. I pick out different types for different moods I might be in, different types of people I'd send notes to (elderly aunt vs. my many famous friends vs. my more artsy famous friends vs. stationery that would be solely for one friend bc it'd make them laugh, etc.).

Your turn?

Whoa, that's me. Who the heck are you??

I'm the OP! I do the same thing with wrapping paper.

How many pillows do you like on a bed? Do you want them to reach halfway down to the foot of the bed?

Though I know using them will not give me the kind of skin that they have - nevertheless I have this irrational urge to try them just to see on my own.

I am a weirdo, I know.
Ha!

Oh that Jane Seymour anti-crepe lotion is like an earworm in my brain. She’s so old and she has NO CREPE!

Totally disagree. There is jewelry that dates back to the Stone Age and adornment has been part of most cultures throughout human history. It’s been a way for women to pass wealth to their daughters when they couldn’t have bank accounts, and something small enough to sew into clothes when fleeing bad times. I cherish pieces I inherited and also have sold stuff I didn’t like and paid for home renovations. I’m also coveting some Tiffany hardware but not in my budget for this year.

The lyrics to the song diamonds are a girls best friend are really intriguing.. it’s basically — society is a patriarchy, don’t be an idiot and fall for love, get diamonds so you can pay your rent when your looks go.

OP here. For fluff, when putting towels in the dryer, add two or three (clean) tennis balls. They fluff things up like nobody's business.

No you are not weird.

I also am inundated with celebrity skincare ads all over my social media feed and see these celebrities with perfect/ flawless skin and sometimes wonder to myself “what if??”
But then sensible me realizes that in all reality, most celebrities have access to high-end dermatologists and medical grade skincare products so it is unlikely that they actually use the products they market to us mere mortals!

I had a not-so-great mother, who liked to deprive me of things we could easily have paid for. When I went to college, she didn't buy me anything, and I bought my own twin sheets with the money I made from my job and I didn't know to get twin xl and so they didn't fit. So I had sheets that I just had to lay on even though they literally didn't attach to the bed at the bottom. My duvet thing didn't fit either. My roommate complained that the room didn't look good because of it.

Pottery Barn Teen has a dorm room supplies build-your-bed feature, and I can spend hours choosing various Love Shack Fancy sheet, duvet, throw, and throw pillow combos.

Why didn’t you return the sheets and get a set that fit?

Because she was 18 and in college and probably couldn't go back to the store to return them easily.

I’d like to know why she’s still blaming her mom for a mistake that she made on her own.

My mom got me the same reversible green/burgundy comforter from BBB that everyone else had in my dorm except really fancy people. I did t know I was supposed to feel bad about this.

Seriously, who are you PP?? Clearly you have life dialed in and your parents did everything just right. So please sit QUIETLY in your little bubble of righteousness.

This is my teen daughter. She has so much stationary, and the only thing she writes are thank you notes. Teachers and parents think she is so grateful, but she just wants to use her stationary.

I've never wanted one either, but I went to lunch with a friend wearing one this week and couldn't stop staring at it, it was so pretty!

Actually, no, that's not me. It's about the color and pattern and how it works in the room and the season. DH and I each have three bed pillows. Maybe one decorative pillow for looks.
