You believe a single article in a single ethics journal defines in absolutist terms what is ethically right or wrong for all situations and all women? |
[mastodon]
Is it your view that it’s always the same? You’re the one trying to defend something that before now would be considered medically, morally and often legally impermissible. we don’t need to engage in your dumb HS debate tactics. |
You believe a couple of old men can determine what is ethically right or wrong for women? |

It’s scary how enraged democrats become when an unborn baby is given a chance to survive.
It provokes the deepest and most profound anger in their hearts and minds. |
“It’s a very complex situation, obviously, not only ethically but also medically,” said Dr. Vincenzo Berghella, director of maternal fetal medicine at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. (not according to dcum. They are medical experts. *snort*) A 2021 review that Berghella co-authored scoured medical literature going back decades for cases in which doctors declared a woman brain-dead and aimed to prolong her pregnancy. It found 35. Of those, 27 resulted in a live birth, the majority either immediately declared healthy or with normal follow-up tests. No! We must immediately remove the mother from life support and kill her baby, too! Every mom wants her baby dead, quoth dcum. Scary ass people. |
According to at least one reputable previous study, 27 out of 35 babies delivered survived and were healthy and normal. Where are you finding that the baby is statistically unlikely to survive? |
What’s the unborn baby’s prognosis? |
What’s your hot take on violating HIPPA? |
I read this thread and I understand more why DCUM was so utterly shocked and confused that voters across the country did not share DCUMs position on abortion in the 2024 election. You are seen as extremist but you don’t understand that. |
Posters in this thread have stated as fact that the baby will be born dead or severely disabled. Where did they get that information? |
Most Americans don’t see a pregnant mother as “biological material.” Dcum does. I am sure they lovingly visit the graves of their dear departed biological material and place beautiful flowers in the memory of said biological material. Engraved on headstone: Here lies our departed biological material. |
It’s in the original AP article that started the thread. Did any of you read it? “Newkirk told WXIA that doctors told the family that the fetus has fluid on the brain and that they’re concerned about his health. “She’s pregnant with my grandson. But he may be blind, may not be able to walk, may not survive once he’s born,” Newkirk said. She has not said whether the family wants Smith removed from life support.” |
Newkirk told WXIA that doctors told the family that the fetus has fluid on the brain and that they’re concerned about his health.
“She’s pregnant with my grandson. But he may be blind, may not be able to walk, may not survive once he’s born,” Newkirk said. She has not said whether the family wants Smith removed from life support. That’s a blessing. Imagine growing up and your grandmother and your mom’s family (your “maternal biological material’s familial biological material according to dcum speak) wanted you to die? Awkward. Also: why no interviews with the unborn baby’s father? (That’s paternal biological material, for you dcumers.) |
That is not the same thing as a factual diagnosis that the child is guaranteed to be born dead or severely disabled, which is how people in this thread are speaking. |
