I'm tempted to stop reading the thread here.

That’s how they’ll spin it.

I don't think so. Did you see the text messages? DUI hire Hegseth called Europeans freeloaders. Vance was worried about damage to Saudi oil facilities and told them to wait a month and analyze the situation more and then caved. NSA adviser who is in charge of our national security doesn't even know how to text properly. The GOP is going to look ridiculous if they don't hold hearings on this after all the fuss they made over Hillary's email. This is 100x worse.

Plus, I don't feel particularly safe with this cast of clowns in charge.

It's a must read. We are truly being governed by morons.

Didn't see it in the NYT, traitor newspaper.

Check again.

+1 Does the person calling it a traitor newspaper not know how to read?

Yes, it's the journalist's fault that the NSA adviser Waltz who was leaking info to him was too dumb to use Signal's chat function. Definitely the guy you want in charge of all our country's most sensitive info. They need to fire him.

That's why he left the chat - because if he stayed longer then they probably would.

Why did he take screenshots and not delete it

As proof that he was added to the group chat, for when he wrote an article about the monumental stupidity of our top national security folks?

Why are focusing on this and not the monumental stupidity of the folks planning a bombing campaign?

The Hill:
Fox News anchor John Roberts praised journalist Jeffery Goldberg hours after the The Atlantic’s top editor published a bombshell report revealing he had been accidentally sent secret war plans by top U.S. officials ahead of recent strikes in the Middle East.

“I would think that there are probably worse people that you could text your secret plans to,” Roberts said on Fox on Monday afternoon. “But it appears Goldberg has acted responsibly here in writing this article.”
r/askpolitics was where I first heard about this, someone asked conservatives to give their opinion and they all called for firing people.

Fox 8 article has a survey on how concerned you are, 62% very concerned.

And this is where Democrats need to mimic the MAGAs like a rabid dog with a bine, back during the "but her emails" time. Do not let it go.

This this this. The dems have just been letting things go and I’m not sure why.

Are they actually covering it on their TV network? FoxNews website is not.

Schumer has been too busy writing/hawking his book. He needs to be dumped for someone who can work full-time.

He did not take screenshots of military information per se. Are you saying he should have kept the entire thing to himself?

Still nothing on FoxNews website. Republicans breaking laws is not news to them.

Sad that they would charge the journalist for receiving information he didn't ask for, but not NSA Waltz, DUI Hegseth or VP Vance for breaking a bunch of national security laws by planning a war on a commercial app. "But...but... her emails!!!"

Senator Jack Reed of Rhode Island, the ranking Democrat on the Armed Services Committee, said that the “story represents one of the most egregious failures of operational security and common sense I have ever seen.”

“Military operations need to be handled with utmost discretion and precision, using approved secure lines of communication, because American lives are on the line,” he added.

Mr. Trump, speaking to reporters at the White House, said that he had no knowledge of the article in The Atlantic. “I don’t know anything about it,” he said, adding, “You’re telling me about it for the first time.”

The Pentagon referred questions about the article to the National Security Council. Mr. Hegseth was traveling to Hawaii on Monday, his first stop on a weeklong trip to Asia.

“At this time, the message thread that was reported appears to be authentic, and we are reviewing how an inadvertent number was added to the chain,” Brian Hughes, the National Security Council spokesman, said in an emailed statement. He called the thread “a demonstration of the deep and thoughtful policy coordination between senior officials.”

The State Department spokeswoman, Tammy Bruce, said at a press briefing that she would not comment on Mr. Rubio’s “deliberative conversations,” and directed further questions to the White House.

During his first term, Mr. Trump repeatedly said Hillary Clinton should have been imprisoned for using a private email server to communicate with her staff and others while she was secretary of state. Mr. Waltz, for his part, posted on social media in June 2023: “Biden’s sitting National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan sent Top Secret messages to Hillary Clinton’s private account. And what did DOJ do about it? Not a damn thing.”

Not to be obvious. But the issue is not that they “inadvertently” added a journalist. The issue is that they were using Signal for highly classified information that put US military personnel at risk.

First, using signal to coordinate a government operation is flat out illegal. I’m GS-13 random attorney and know this. If I coordinated a legal case with a colleague via signal instead of email, in person or agency Teams, I’d be fired. And I would grieve it to the union, because I’d deserve and be thankful no one was pursuing criminal action. And I know this because of mandatory annual federal records training. Second, great, they added a journalist who wasn’t a traitor and got lucky— they were exposed until the operation was over. Does not mean they will always get lucky using informal group chat to plan an attack. The next inadvertent admit might well post screenshots far and wide and get troop killed. If I was in the military, this text chain and the response would make me livid. In fact, I’m not livid and I’m furious they are so flippant about the lives of the men who carry out these missions. “nothing bad happened THIS TIME” is a c—p excuse.
