Yet. It's clearly obvious that if there are large layoffs and aggressive program cutting, contractor jobs will go away. I can't fathom that people don't understand this. |
+1. Honestly house prices in DC have been too high for way too long. They have not matched other markets. Prize relief in this region is WAY overdue. |
People also forget that those areas don't have large job markets and when disruptions hit, you are sol. There are lots of areas around the country that tout their local tech industry but those jobs have never been secure either. Ask people who worked for the Sprint etc. |
Let’s be honest - DC kind of sucks
If you are a dem and not “in the game” / gang of 500 , it’s better to sell off and retrench to boston/New England, Seattle, hell even Philly, tri state |
Okay. |
No there are tons of defensive contractors, non profits that are both republican and democrats, etc. if there is a lot less government there will be a lot less lobbyists. Trumpers are removing 25% of the GDP of the country and distributing another 30-45%. There will be few jobs with many applicants. Salaries will be greatly reduced and unemployment will be very high(not just in DC). This will cause big recession or worst. It will take 10 years for everything to settle down. During this time the markets will tank and not rise(lost generation like in the 1970’s). In the meantime the DMV will be a ghost town. Think Detroit or the rust belt. I do not see the country staying together. It will break up in to regional counties. |
You're assuming the orange man is logical. He isn't. Elmo isn't running the show. The orange man reacts like a petty child and makes decisions based on retribution. He always makes decisions on the negative. His need to punish and tantrum when anyone blocks a desire of his or anyone points out his stupidity is what rules his life. Don't assume that he has a functioning plan. Just assume he will constantly be looking for a new object or his ire that he will try to destroy. He isn't going to let these tech bros make all the decisions. |
No! don't be silly. Of course not! |
If I was in defense, I’d rather work in Raytheon and live in concord mass than anything in the dc area |
I think people will bend over backwards to stay in their houses, especially if they bought before the crazy run-up over the past 10 years and refinanced to a rate in the 2s. They will probably cut everything else before giving up their house so I expect a tight market with almost nothing for sale will continue. Construction is probably dead though. |
So grateful for my 2% interest rate and $2500 mortgage. We had so many people questioning the area where we bought, why we were buying a modest townhome, etc. Well… |
No compared to CA |
McLean is safe too |
Let's be honest the last 3 years of job growth was in government. Its not sustainable govt is an expense not income. So we need to shift those folks to the private sector. |
This. We're hunkering down in our sfh in a less desirable DMV area that we bought so we could pay the mortgage on one salary. |
