It is meaningful. Over the years, Ms Norton secured well needed funds for the city, the establishment of the DCTAG program (although it has not been increased, but still), the old Navy Yard for redevelopment, and more. Somebody needs to to be there to advocate for the city. Ms Norton was good when she was of sound mind, but like all of us, she needs to realize when her career and mind has sunset.

It matters. This person sits on committees and can be a strong voice against the opposition. A good candidate could be good for the Dem brand. Have you seen the new shadow Senator? New? One has held the office since 1997, the other since 2007. Do you know their names?

It seems you don't know their names. Ankit Jain was elected last year, replacing Michael Brown (aka White Mike), who was elected in 2007

It’s possible - although unlikely - that Racine could challenge her, although his brand has faded and it’s not clear he would be able to mount much of a challenge.

Met her several times in official and personal capacities and am simply underwhelmed by her. Not very impressive, and not as nice as people who don’t know her think she is
