TURNOUT VERSUS WEEK 1, 2020:
Strong Trump Counties +23.5%
Weak Trump Counties +20%
Competitive Counties +3%
Weak Harris Counties -9%
Strong Harris Counties -19%

The correlation is insane and evident. If this energy is reproduced in the other battlegrounds - we'll be heading to bed early.

Everyone I know in VA votes on Election Day. I think you’re trolling because Trump’s campaign ran out of steam over the summer.

You can call me a troll all you want.

But these numbers are facts.

I voted last Friday and there was a good size crowd. Northern Virginia is not going to turn red for Trump.

DP. Doesn't really matter, though, does it? Virginia isn't in play.

Oh, yes, it is. If you've been in any part of the state outside of the beltway in the last 3 weeks, you know that.

OP, to answer your question, I will follow our family's tradition of making chili on election night and watching the returns. Hoping/ praying for a Trump victory and even daring to hope now for an electoral "landslide."

As has been explained above and in other threads, VA was tentatively in play before Biden dropped out, and now the Trump campaign has retreated, because polling shows Harris will win VA. But Trump still has a path to 270 if he targets swing states. VA is just not one of them.

I have never seen so many Trump/Vance signs in VA.

Sorry, but I think you're lying. I saw a good number in 2016, fewer in 2020, and even fewer this year. Which isn't to say that some people won't vote for Trump... but your visual assessment seems off.

WHAT A DIFFERENCE ONE WORD MAKES.
MADAM Vice President. It breaks glass ceilings. It paves the way for a generation of new leaders. It turns “never-been-done” to “did”.

In 2020 we set out to commemorate the inauguration of America’s first female (AND black AND South Asian) Vice President. We collaborated with talented local artist and Alpha Kappa Alpha soror Lex Marie to create a whiskey fit for toasting history: Madam.

Lex says “…as an artist my mind immediately went to the many masterpieces I’ve studied of portraits painted of French women of status titled ‘Portrait of Madame….’ Portraits have long served as a way to show the sitter’s importance, beauty and power and I felt that Vice President Kamala Harris deserved to be represented in that way.” Cheers to that.

Vice President Harris is seated in a salmon pink blazer and pearls as a nod to Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc, and surrounded in a frame that is both elegant and feminine.

Madam is a blend of 8 year old bourbon and 6 year old rye. We slow-smith each barrel before bottling to produce what we all strive (and vote, and protest, and organize) for- a more perfect union.

NOSING AND TASTING:

On the nose you pick up notes of pink peppercorn, baking spices like cinnamon and allspice, butterscotch, candied orange peel, and a wisp of smokey depth.

Your first sip carries hints of vanilla and caramel creme followed by dried plum and cereal grains.

Mash Bill: 58% Rye, 37% Corn, 5% Malted Barley
Bottle size: 750ml
Proof: 92
ABV: 46%

I'm torn between two issues so no matter who wins there will be something to celebrate (and mourn).

If an east coast state such as VA or NJ unexpectedly goes red, the math for achieving the necessary 270 electoral college votes by the Democrats would be all but impossible. So, no real drama on the outcomes past 11 or 12 EST.

I don't know that anyone is planning a celebration on Election Night except the candidates themselves (and perhaps a few political watch parties in various states). Everyone else is likely to see the numbers come in, and if they don't like what they see, go to bed early and hear who won on the news the next morning.

If Trump wins, the fight isn't going to be over. I fully expect Jamie Raskin and others in Congress to try and prevent him from being sworn in as President.

If Harris wins, there will be Democratic celebrations... but then the fun begins. With a divided government, I expect she'll try to govern by executive order. Those orders will get challenged across the country in the courts, so we'll see substantial litigation, lots of appellate opinions, and finally Supreme Court rulings.

Projecting just a little here, aren’t we? Your candidate is the one who won’t commit to accepting the election results and has already proven he won’t do so even after exhausting all legal challenges.

So.

Do we dare buy anything in advance?

Do we prep both ways, like the campaign parties?

WWYD?

Unless certain states are won unxpectedly like florida, the results of the election likely won't be known until the following Saturday.

That’s bs. Why as early voting and electronic ballots is it a wait to see who won? They used to hand count all the ballots and we knew the same night.

Because it used to be that the candidates would go on percentages and the one who was on a trajectory to lose conceded. But then Trump and fights and accusations and bad faith. So here we are.

You think that started with Trump? Were you alive in 2000?

As I looked around the restaurant, I realized there were alcoholic beverages at every table I could see. At lunchtime on a Wednesday. Everyone was somber and speaking in hushed tones.

I’m not planning a damn thing, but if Harris wins, I will be thanking God as a sense of relief washes over me.

Bush and Gore were separated by a margin of around 500 votes in Florida and Florida was to be the difference maker in the who won the 2020 election. A recount was inevitable and justified. In 2020, Trump called the Sec. of State in Georgia and asked him to "find" the 12,000 votes he needed to overtake Biden. When he couldn't get Georgia's help or any other state to corroborate his stolen election claims, he just continued with those baseless claims until..... a few weeks ago win he apparently "sarcastically" admitted to losing by a whisker in 2020. Both Bush and Gore have more integrity and decency in their little toes than Trump has altogether. The mess created by Trump after the 2020 election is not comparable to what happened in the 2000 election. Not even close.

After the 2016 election, Hillary and some other Dems whined about Russia influence the election, voter suppression, and losing the electoral collage while winning the popular vote. This is an example of members of the losing side being sore losers. Asking a state official to "find" 12k votes is not an example of someone being a sore loser. That's an example of a sitting POTUS with zero integrity trying to use their power to bully someone in the awfullest of ways. No losing side in a presidential election had ever set precedent for Trump's actions in the wake of the 2020 election.
