Which of these got my DD into Princeton?

Not a legacy, RD, not an athlete, not full pay. We pay about 50% of sticker price.

Gpa- 4.0 straight A’s, 10 AP, all 5s

35 ACT, 1550 SAT (790 math)

Volleyball for 4 years of HS, varsity captain

Essays about being bad at volleyball and working hard to become one of the best players in her HS

NOT in NHS

No awards other than the AP distinction ones

No research, no paid job

I’m curious to know what you think got her in because we know so many kids with better stats and other stuff that flat out got rejected.

Because of that fact that you left out: from a private HS(??)

Why wasn't she in NHS with those grades?

Not every school has NHS.

In fact, the most "desirable" schools from an admissions standpoint (the two ends of the spectrum--very elite privates AND under-resourced inner city or rural schools) do not have NHS. NHS is most likely to exist at your suburban public schools where you have the worst chances at elite colleges.

either a private elite feeder HS or the other end of the spectrum--inner city or rural school. Both give you a big bump. And these two ends of the spectrum are the ones that don't have that many awards, NHS etc.

Mine went to Princeton, and I don't think yours got in with those basic stats unless they are black, biracial, and/or First Gen with one parent. Those stats are a "dime A dozen".

Not allowed to give racial preferences anymore.

💯
Some websites call those kinds of honors “pedestrian”.

The best honors are diverse ones from private school kids (where there are no in-school honors):
Concord Review + Kenyon Young writers + national champion in a sport + employee of the month several times (or winner of a local jumprope competition)…

Unusual things together make a mark.

They have to accept someone. They can't reject everyone.

Half of these are from the same person.

How are those stats average? lol

Cry harder.

Quite average. For HYP.

Asians with higher stats have been rejected from Princeton.

10 APs and a 1550 aren't impressive in this environment. Just normal. It is what it is.

No leadership ECs? No work experience? No papers? No awards? There are kids with 3-5 NGOs getting rejected.

"Essays about being bad at volleyball and working hard to become one of the best players in her HS" lmaooooo

The stats are average for her program.
Chemistry.

"Princeton University's admitted applicants maintain strong average SAT Math scores around 780"

It's higher for science programs.
