No more history majors...?

Divide the highly educated current U.S. Congress along party lines and you'll find that the college majors of our political representatives are very similar—no matter their party affiliation. Political science, government, economics, business, and history are top degrees on both sides of the aisle.

Study finds the top major of US Presidents is … History

Is this supposed to be a positive recommendation for majoring in these subjects? 😂

That's because many were lawyers.

And when did most US Presidents graduate college? Times have changed since they were in school.

Also why don’t more politicians have degrees in math and science? It would make a big difference in legislation priorities.

I bet most if not all have MBAs, which supports what was stated up thread, that most history majors have to get a graduate degree to get a good paying job.

I have a history degree - my kid plans on studying history but I agree, it's a shame.

I know my kid specifically wants to teach history in high school, so plans a history/education dual major.

The BEST and most engaging teachers at my kids' private high school are all history teachers. Both my sons fell in love with all areas of history, govt/politics from these men. The teachers all have graduate degrees---two are Ivy educated. I am very happy to hear that you kid plans to teach history. We need good history teachers. Maybe if Americans understood civics/history, world history, euro history, us history--we wouldn't have such a messed up crazy political nightmare of the past 8 years. Maybe, just maybe Jan 6 wouldn't have happened.

Compared to the “elite” highly credentialed Experts who have been responsible for disaster after disaster since 1992 he is a genius.

Sounds like a pretty awesome parent. Their kid is someone who's supportive, cares about the community, and has a drive to guide others. What a spectacular contrast to the uninspired, entitled, and unethical brats that make their ways to Wharton and ivies for economics every single year.

+1 So true!

Ron DeSantis majored in history. And Josh Hawley! George W. Bush, Mike Pence, Newt Gingrich, Tucker Carlson, and Brett Kavanaugh are some other great history majors. JD Vance is probably my favorite philosophy major.

Maybe a silly question from a new non tech type but what happens with an explicitly vocational major like cybersecurity if it turns out AI is now carrying out a lot of the activities you are trained to do. I have been hearing about layoffs.
