Well of course now we know better, but that still doesn’t answer the question, why go through the effort of getting outside players who are obviously worse than your current ones? Like who cares if you got a flood of new kids trying out this year, if they’re worse than what you have? |
| Maybe it's the money. Counting on current kids to stay even if they get moved down, while getting new outside kids to also pay/play |
Where did your kid move to from ASA? We are considering a move next year. |
| What are the big changes happening this year? Have there been drastic shifts across all age groups? How many returning players are getting cut for new players? And where are the new players coming from? Other clubs or Arlington? |
Apparently something like McLean no longer having a path to ECNL, so the McLean kids who want ECNL tried out for Arlington teams since Arlington still has ECNL. |
Are current Arlington players being pushed out for these new McLean players? |
According to these posts, yes. But I don't actually know for sure. |
At least one on a younger ECNL age team. Kid was probably going to be pushed down either way |
I think certain age groups and probably boys were affected the most. Yes, current players are absolutely being pushed out, down, or just not up (for top kids expected to move up). There’s also a few new coaches from other clubs who supposedly are “bringing kids over” with them, though I have not seen evidence of that yet. No, the kids I know of who were moved down should not have been moved down “either way”. I think this implies that the kid deserved it cause they just weren’t good, or have parents who can’t see that. Ironically, the kids whom we thought *should* move down either way (including some we thought for sure would, cause they should have moved down last year!), didn’t. Our kids were not moved down so we’re not biased from that perspective at least. But they have been teammates who definitely should not have been moved down, and certainly not moved down multiple levels. If you’re bringing in all these amazing outside players, then sure. But by now we have seen many of the ones under serious consideration, some of whom we know did end up getting offers. *None* were any better than the current team players. |
YAWN… |
Yes they are. I know for sure. |
| So some are complaining that kids never get moved down when they should and others are complaining that kids are getting moved down for outside players. Maybe let the coaches do their jobs. |
| Yes, they are not mutually exclusive. Also the coaches don’t always choose. |
| Does anyone understand the plan for the new pre-academy teams they added this year at the younger age groups? Will they play NCSL and push other teams down or is something else happening? |
Don’t discount the impact little Johnny’s mommy or daddy have on calling Arlington coaches and management, trying to influence and advocate on behalf of their kid(s). May explain, I’m part, why so many outside-of-Arlington players are added. |
