The First Family's Lifestyle

You should ask for a refund from wherever you were taught history.

I'm sure there can be a correlation between cause and effect in the myriad of infinite possibilities.

The book Freakonomics says what caused the decrease in crime in the 1990s is due to the passage of Roe v. Wade. Unwanted babies did not become unwanted criminals. More power to this theory.

I'm a Democrat, I'm disappointed in Obama but barring a scandal or incident that completely changes my sense of him, I will absolutely vote for him in 2012. The date to New York bothered me. The super expensive parties. The number of parties. (I would love to know the price tag of the one for the President of Mexico!) This trip to Marbella, Michelle and Sasha are meeting up with friends, is costing taxpayers a bundle is too much. At least Bush took most of his vacations at family properties. I am thinking the Obamas are paying for Michelle and Sasha's hotel room(s) at this Ritz-Carlton property. They better be! But we, you and I, are paying for Air Force Two, the secret service detail, etc. Maybe they should tone it down a bit. He's hanging by a thread in the polls. A lot can happen in two years. But if this keeps up. The disconnect, the insensitivity and the mindlessness are just getting to me.

Yes, Michelle wearing $500.00 athletic shoes to feed the poor. Not good public image. Also the trip to Spain on Taxpayers back for use of Air Force 2 and extra secret service. Too bad but there is nothing we can do about this except at the ballot box. My reason for not voting for him in 2012 (I'm an Independent) is that he is just a lot of hot air--all style and no substance. Same for her.

Then you're not listening very well. Or considering the alternative (which may be worse) if you've already made up your mind. In that regard, you're not very thoughtful, either.

The Obamas are not the first, nor the last, public official to use taxpayer money for partially private use (in the form of secret service, airforce 1, etc.) Many presidents, congresspeople, governors, etc., etc. do it all the time. This is much ado about nothing (at least in terms of pinning the Obamas as the only ones.)

This!

I've had the same nagging thought for 8 pages of comments. There is this undercurrent of negative exceptionalism, as if Obama weren't entitled to the same privileges as every other president we've had. He's the p r e s i d e n t. It's in our self interest to protect the man.

THIS IS NOT A RACE ISSUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NO ONE CARES THAT HE IS BLACK...GET THE HELL OVER IT AND RISE ABOVE!

HE IS A *HITTY PRESIDENT, AND THAT DOES NOT MAKE ME RACIST IF I FEEL THAT WAY.

Yes. Thank you. I actually begrudge him his vacays because he doesn't deserve them...I begrudged Bush too. But, I had no problem with Clinton going wherever he wanted to.

As a really left wing liberal, I am saddened by the way Obama seems to have a cavalier attitude towards everything. Even the way he walks and his manner, really reminds me of George BUsh. In this time I though we would have a serious president. I'm also saddened by the fact that instead of tackling the economy he demonizes businesses and then threatens them with higher taxes. I may be a social liberal and want gay marriage and freedom of my body but I understand that when you tell a small business owner like my father (who voted for him) that you will continue to raise his taxes he will not hire a new worker. I really hope Hillary runs against him in the primary.

Facts do not support these absurd conclusions.

I was dissapointed that they spent only 27 hours in Florida, then jetted off to Martha's Vineyard for 10 days. If Michelle really meant what she said ("people should bring their kids and come on down here"), then they should have just vacationed in the Gulf. She seemed very hypocritical after that.

Really? How much time have you spent in the Gulf in the years since Katrina and now the spill?

You all are a bunch of petty, petty people.

What if an African American was commenting on GWB's big ears? Would that be racist?

Except President Obama doesn't have big lips. He has big ears, just like his predecessor. You're entitled to your own beliefs, but not your own facts.

I would be grateful if you could send me links to stories reporting on the administration's plans to raise taxes on small businesses.

In response:

I agree 100%. This is an issue of race. Nothing else.

You have an active imagination.

If you're concerned about the waste of taxpayer funds, take a look at Congressional travel.

This should explain it (raising income taxes also raises taxes on small business owners).

I guess it depends how you choose to correlate the facts.
