Such a sophisticated and thoughtful response.

But then you use “Karen,” which was lazy and misogynist in 2011 and is painfully embarrassing to hear earnestly in 2024. At least try something new.

DP. Karen didn’t exist in 2011 unless you were an Incel on Reddit. It came into widespread use after the Chris Cooper incident in Central Park in 2020.

More of us never used it then, either, because we recognized it for the sexist, ageist, piece of crap term it is (apologies to my friend Karen bc as a name it’s still fine). Call Amy Cooper a racist, that’s clear and does the job even better.

Karen is an apt description for entitled white women who want to speak to the manager about something that doesn’t concern them. This is universally acknowledged. Your whining about it isn’t going to change the zeitgeist.

It is a fact universally acknowledged that Karen is only applied to women, who happen to be middle aged and white, by blatant misogynists, racists, and ageists such as yourself.

Thanks for the smelly red herring: speaking to the manager about a bad meal (or wanting to ride an e-bike) does actually concern them.

If you aren't pulling up a red herring, then the only possible conclusion is that you think middle-aged white women should't be allowed to expect decent customer service.

There are so many more direct terms. If somebody is truly being racist (see: Amy Cooper), then call them a racist. Racism is the issue and calling them a racist addresses the issue. We're not fooled by you using Karen as a foil for your belief that middle-aged white women shouldn't be allowed decent customer service under any circumstances.

Me too. I mean, my name is Jen (aren't we all?), but besides that.

Hatmaker?

This literally made me LOL

I’m an older millennial and I’ve been on DCUM long enough to remember the origin of Larla.

I think DCUM may have been more fun and less mean at that time?

Yes, i agree. I've been on it for many years (since just before Snowmaggedon I think?) and it has definitely changed. Meaner and dumber unfortunately.
