| I don't think they can miss any more days of school. They are still behind from COVID, and some kids still have PTSD from March 13, 2020. When they closed down. They need to stay open. |
It will be melted by dismissal. This is a nothing-burger. |
Also in Herndon, the roads are not icy. |
Agreed. The middle and high schoolers would have been picked up before the snow even started. The late start ES's would be picked up now and it's not so bad. Two busses have gone by at normal speed in our neighborhood so far this morning. |
There's no difference anymore between excused and unexcused absences, fyi. The schools don't care anymore. |
I just drove in the Herndon/Reston area, the roads are not icy. There is some slush in places but the roads are fine. |
| Last night I was very skeptical it would snow this morning, but it’s happening! |
Scrapers would be for sale at all groceries, targets, Walmarts, gas stations … likely on sale too as nearing end of season. Also after 9, just use credit card for this amount if anything crusty but more likely just windshield wipers. |
I’m a little worried that a “newish” teacher was not able to problem solve this on her own. |
Oh, I can problem solve it and I will. Just expressing my preference! |
If these kids are still suffering, four years later from PTSD, then I suggest their parents seek therapy for them. |
| I truly don’t understand why “snowing!” means that schools should be cancelled. The buses are driving just fine! School can occur in snow! |
DP. Not sure if PTSD is the right word for it, but affected? Yes. Some/many people were affected for the rest of their lives from the Great Depression. Will kids be affected for the rest of their lives from the pandemic? Possibly - if they are, I won't blame them or their parents. |
It shouldn't be cancelled for today. Sometimes it's tricky to know if it's going to be snow/slush, or turn to ice which is more dangerous. |
