I think last night's ep made this very clear! Honestly the manufactured petty drama is tiresome. |
I don't even find her attractive anymore. |
Agree it won't be Maria. Joey seems like he was genuinely traumatized by the Charity rejection. He wants to feel secure in his relationship, will make a safe choice. |
His timeline is unreasonable. A few years engaged, then a few years married before considering kids? Of course the 30-ish women wouldn’t be happy about that. I guess that’s the beauty of being a 20-something male though. |
It was actually pretty wise of her to press him on this issue. She hoped they'd be, or get, in sync and it didn't happen. C'est la vie. |
| I'm not fully caught up yet, but the tell seems to whether there's an actual makeout vs. fairly chaste kisses. The latter means friend zone/ you're at the bottom. Has he made out with anyone other than Jenn, Daisy, and Maria? |

I've not been a fan of Maria, but I appreciate that she owns her big personality. She makes no apologies for who she is and she let's it show. It's refreshing compared to a lot of the women who are "playing the role" of dating this guy...all very controlled and pleasantly contained.
Maria's not the prettiest girl, but she can draw a guy in by her "devil may care" style. It puts a guy at ease (as Joey alluded to)....and it keeps them interested because she's a little (lot) unpredictable. |

What is so unique about how this season ends?
Any guesses? My guess is that the woman who "wins" tells Joey that she wants to just date and not actually get engaged. Sort of a reverse-Juan-Pablo! Joey is already fretting that there won't be someone who reciprocates his feelings in the end. I just don't get the vibes from Joey that HE actually wants to GET MARRIED. He seems like a guy who was flattered to be asked to be the lead, but he doesn't carry himself like a grown man who is ready to settle down. He seems like a nice young man who is playing the role of "lead Bachelor." I don't hear him saying that he is SO ready to get married or SO ready to start a family, etc. He seems like he's looking for a steady girlfriend. I think the woman he picks will sense that and tell him they don't need to get engaged. |
I agree with all of this, except Reality Steve said he does get engaged. The key for him is that it's lengthy one, so an engagement doesn't surprise me if the woman is willing to accept his timeline. So what haven't we seen before on this show? Maybe he rejects one, changes his mind, then immediately runs after her to propose? So unlike Jason doesn't actually change his mind after proposing but during the ceremony? I can't imagine any other scenario that is a "surprise" but still results in an engagement. |
I find her annoying and hope she's not selected as the Bachelorette. Not enough emotional depth, just in it to win it. |
I think it was telling that he picked out the most conservative dress for her. |
| I don't think he connects with Maria on a deep level at all. She just has a a very surface personality. |
| I think Joey is still dealing with the rejection from Charity. It was too soon for him to become the Bachelor. |
But it seems like Maria and Rachel are the only two that he has fun with. Everything else always so heavy. I'm rooting for Rachel, but I can see why he likes Maria. That limo ride was the perfect example; her sarcastically saying "Thanks Joey" when he said "you're pretty" was the most real moment of the whole season. It probably feels nice to relax and laugh and be silly, when you have to spend each date listening to a new person download their personal trauma on you |
| This season is pretty boring. Joey is cute and seems like a sweetheart, but he doesn't seem that fun or have much of a sense of humor. There is minimal drama with the girls which doesn't make for good TV, but outside of Maria and a bit of Jen, these girls are plain Jane. |
