I honestly see absolutely no difference at all when democrats mug you through taxes for their socialist agenda versus these guys in the street who deserve a piece of your wealth (e.g. nice coat). TBH, I think the muggers on the street have more integrity than Dems in office, because at least they’re honest about their intentions. Dems mug you for your wealth and pretend like they’re doing you a favor.

The thread is about street crime but go off.

You’re just salty because it is true. No difference between Democrats in Congress vs the streets doing wealth redistribution.

Only if you are a dumb partisan. Normal people can easily see that taxes are not the same as violent crime. What a bunch of foolishness masquerading as thoughtful argument.

Yet if you don’t pay your taxes, the state will commit escalating acts of violence against you, up until your death, if necessary, to either compel you to pay, seize your wealth/assets if you don’t pay, jail you if you refuse that forfeiture, and injure or kill you if you refuse to be jailed.

So tell us all again - there’s no difference between taxes and violent crime, eh?

It’s the only way this current crime wave will end.

Then why is violent crime lower in many cities with gun restrictions than cities in Alaska etc?

Because there’s like 4 people in Alaska. If one of them commits a crime, it means 25% of the population is a criminal and the other 3 have a .33% chance of being a victim of crime.

Yeah urban crime is high in states with lax gun laws too, but also city restrictions don’t really mean anything when we’re next to Virginia. It’s not like people are having a hard time getting guns.

Personally, I would never wear an expensive coat. For my money it’s wasteful. But for their money they could do whatever they want with it, and they have the right to wear it without fear of it being stolen.

I worked so hard for my Canada goose, from cleaning motel rooms as a kid, working at putt-putt in the summers, work-study jobs, etc. I love my Canada goose and now I can’t wear it because of thugs.

Stop bragging how hard you work; many people have. Get a Scandinavian brand that is just as good if not better but unheard of yet.
They would pass you, google it, and then decide whether to jump you or not. You have time to escape.

If it’s unheard of, how would anyone know about it to purchase it?

How do you think Canada Goose got famous in the first place?

The Second District is investigating an Armed Robbery that occurred on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at approximately 2135 hours in the 1900 block of S St, NW.

The lookout is for three black males armed with handguns and ski masks wearing dark clothing, driving a grey sedan vehicle with an unknown tag, hopping out of their car, and robbed the complainant at gunpoint while he was crossing the streets. Taken were the complainant's Canadian Goose Jacket. There were no injuries reported on the scene.

If you have any information, please contact the Command Information Center at 202-727-9099 or send an anonymous text tip to 50411.

A victimless crime. There was someone who complained. They should know their place and keep quiet.

How does covid cause a person to be robbed of their winter coat at gunpoint?

I don’t care what the rationale is. The victims did not deserve to be assaulted. I probably wouldn’t agree with them, think they’re smart, or like them very much, but they did not deserve to be assaulted.

Have pity for them. They need the coats more than you do. These poor people don’t have access to any help.
I can't tell if this is sarcasm or not. That's how insane leftists are.

NP. While I find PP's tone a little odd considering the fact that there was a gun(!!!) involved, I do think that if this person truly did this out of a need for a coat, they deserve pity. Hopefully they can get a warm blanket and a hot meal in jail, and hopefully people at risk of freezing can get some kind of help.

Y'all are just plain idealistic, naive and stupid.

Yet the coats people wear from Walmart are never stolen.

Maybe buy a coat instead of a gun?

The kids have to steal the guns, so they can steal the cars and coats they need to stay warm! Duh.

They aren't stealing these coats to stay warm, they are stealing them because the coats are worth $$$$.

I know you are being sarcastic, but it's worth pointing out that the income spreads have become so wide that is easier to make money by stealing stupid expensive coats and really expensive designer dogs than to get a job.

I'm from a poor area and learned early on that if you flaunt wealth it will get taken from you. Buy regular les expensive coats and adopt a shelter dog and most people who need or want more money will leave you alone.

Victimless when you have 3 guns pointing at you?

I think it's time for the national guard at this point.

We already had a major court case about the road blocks. They’re unconstitutional.

If you’re stupid enough to buy a $900 piece of clothing for a kid who will outgrow it in 6 months, you probably SHOULD be getting robbed. Regularly.

They were already robbed once when they bought it.

Ok, let’s assume you’re correct and it’s the presence of guns that causes crime.

There’s literally orders of magnitude more guns-per-person in Virginia than in DC.

So why isn’t Virginia’s crime rate correspondingly higher than DC’s?

It’s the guns, right? That’s what you’re saying - guns cause crime. So there’s way more guns in Virginia. Why isn’t there way more crime?

Are the guns in Virginia lazy? Are they unmotivated? Why can’t the guns in Virginia influence people the way the guns in DC do?

Well?

The rationale is that GWU students and every other decent person have the right to have and enjoy the possessions they or their benefactors can afford, and that what needs to change is the behavior of criminals not others.

Nothing has ever changed the behavior of criminals, and nothing will. Why is that so hard to understand and accept?

So not true - harsher consequences will change. They have no fear because nothing happens. We're too lenient.

There has never been a time period in the history of the world when there was no crime. I agree with you that we need harsher consequences, but even with harsher consequences there will still be crime and we still have to protect ourselves and act accordingly (ie quit wearing expensive coats that a$$holes are eager to steal). It is what it is. You want to walk around with your 6 million dollar coat and then act all surprised when you get robbed, go ahead. No one is stopping you. I personally will act accordingly and not do that.

Would you wear a diamond ring in El Salvador? Would you wear your Rolex in Manila? Would you wear giant gold chains in Tijuana?

If the answer is no to those, then why would you wear similar kinds of stuff in DC, which is basically a sister city to those aforementioned places?

Interesting we have gone from oppressor and oppressed to predator and prey. Anyone care to deny that this is where CRT has taken us?
