I get flu shots, and covid was MUCH better than getting the flu. So, it's better for me to just get actual covid and get better immunity. No more covid jabs for me.

It can get worse after multiple infections, and long Covid risk increases after multiple infections. And the vaccine is for the newer strains of Covid.

I got Covid 2 months ago - so it took me 3.5 years to get it for the first time.

Look, there are also risks with the vaccine, and it doesn't prevent infection or spread. If you want to get your shots then go for it, but pretending like the covid shot is just like other vaccines is simplistic at best, irresponsible at worst.

Another public health messaging debacle. And they wonder why the number of parents forgoing measles and polio shots are increasing.

The hyper pro covid vaccine argument is seriously problematic, because as you mentioned it's causing people to forgo other MUCH more important (and effective) shots. Skipping the covid vax but getting the others doesn't remotely make someone "antivax." It's unfortunate that some people lump ALL vaccines in the same boat without using data to differentiate.

Forgive me, that’s the cumulative total since 2020. People are still dying but not at rates from earlier.

Sure over the entire pandemic but recently? It’s fairly low.

Is that dying FROM covid, or dying WITH covid? How many of those people were already in frail health?

Covid is seriously messing with our immune systems and you need to do all you can to protect yourself and your families

I haven't been sick since omicron in January 2022. I travel, live with preschoolers, never wear a mask, and wash my hands less than most (in recovery from OCD). Tell me again how my immune system is messed with?

Statistica had it at 500/ day but that might include last winter, it might have been the whole year not 2023.

NYT has it at about 200/day.

Yes, I couldn't believe the statistics, the stupidity and politics around vaccines in our country are depressing. Especially the low rates for long term care residents and adults over the age of 60, and then compare the rates to the same population groups in Europe.

Got mine at work same day as the flu shot!

What are we in for???

The same exact thing we would be in for if the majority of Americans got the latest booster.

Eh, I got my Covid booster when I got my flu shot. My kids only got the flu shot. My DH got his flu shot earlier but not the Covid booster.

Personally, I am most "excited" about be able to get the Shingles vaccine once I am 50.

It's okay. Just like we couldn't change behavior during the pandemic, we can't really get the stupid people to vax. Who cares if they die. I'm tired of caring at this point.

This is about boosters for people who already have the primary vax. When you call people who are vaccinated against covid “anti-vaxxers” you sound like a f-ing moron.

Historically only about 35% of adults get the flu shot a year anyway. It's 36% this year. I mean why go in for the flu shot and then not get the COVID shot, it's silly.

But adults (18-64) have a low rate of vaccines in general.

It's odd that the 65 and older crowd get the flu vaccine at about 65% and are on pace to do that, but don't get the COVID shot while they are there.

Same, all for free, at the supermarket. I did plan ahead to do it on a Friday before a quiet weekend. I think that's key. I do need a bit more sleep and downtime after feeling awful for a few hours. Better than being down for days and days later.

I have two toddlers and work FT. I don't have quiet weekends or weekdays.

Feel free to skip it then!
Good luck if you catch something. Seriously. I hope you have some help or your DH steps up.

I am not the PP but you are insinuating if the PP got the vaccine, he/she would not get COVID- this is simply not true since it doesn't stop transmission. So they could get the vaccine, be sick for a few days, and wait for it, still get COVID.
