Harvard of South - Emory, Duke, Rice or Vanderbilt?

Anonymous
I don't know why you are slandering schools like Duke. Its nothing like Harvard, thank God.

Whichever one is most woke and pro-Hamas.

Think anyone putting Emory at the the same level as Duke, Vanderbilt, and Rice is a little out of touch.

None of these schools want to be Harvard. They all have their own thing going on. There will be overlap with applicants. The STEM students will definitely go to Rice. As for Duke and Vanderbilt, it probably still trends toward Duke. But not for much longer.

It genuinely doesn't matter. They all get great students.

At one point, there was even talk of a league of elite Southern schools playing the Ivy schools in sports. However, that was nixed by the Harvard president who thought they would lose.

That said, Duke and Vanderbilt are probably more like the Ivies than Emory or Rice. Emory doesn’t have the stats, ranking or prestige and Rice is too one-sided with tech, though they offer other majors.

Everyone forgets this now, but the Ivies were once regional schools. In fact, even today, most schools - even the best - have a strong regional bias both in student demographics and post-graduation jobs.

Could you not be more try hard. Emory is T25

Emory is great school but not in the same league as Duke Vanderbilt or Rice.

Vandy and Rice are not the same level as Duke. Stop trying to put them there. Vandy Rice and Emory are the same level. And they have the same reputation score on US News as well, so clearly college admin thing they're the same.

Duke is a top 10 school
Vandy and Rice are top 20 schools
And depending on ranking Emory is between 21 and 40. But not top 20. It is definitely no Rice! It is Tufts, USC, Northeastern.

Duke -4.5
Vandy- 4.2
Emory- 4.2
Rice-4.2
Tufts-3.8
Northeastern-3.5
Tulane-3.4
You're the one out of touch. Emory has the best investment banking placement listed here outside of Duke.

Well Duke is an absolute nightmare to get into. If you’re a good student with good scores you’re in decent running for Vandy or Rice or Emory

Same here. Duke only took a legacy with perfect gpa and very high sat but Emory took a student who wasn’t on anyone’s radar as a strong student.

Emory college is not easier to get into than Vandy or Rice. The difference is Emory has Oxford College which yes is easier to get into as it's supposed to be. Most people who get into Oxford College won't tell you that it's specifically Oxford unless you specifically ask. However Emory College is just as selective as Vandy and Rice.

Also selectivity doesn't have a whole lot to do with reputation and post grad job placement. Some of you are too far up your behinds to realize this. Northeastern is more selective than all of these schools yet you won't catch their grads on wall street. Trust me I know. I see more Emory and Duke grads here than Vandy grads. I've never met a Rice, Tufts, Northeastern, grad on Wall street. Most of you don't even have prestigious enough jobs to be worried about this any way.

Did you just say northeastern is more selective than all those schools? I think you need to double check your info buddy…
