You're high. His is dreadful. |
I really prefer Tracy's version. I feel like he just copied hers exactly and didn't add his own spin to it - I would have preferred a different take that was more modern if he was going to redo it. |
+1. If it had been a song about going to the club it wouldn’t have seemed discordant to have a cover done. But the lyrics were so specific to the artist that it was hard for me to hear him sing them and believe he had the same experience. Also, the arrangement sounded very similar to my ears. I think sting once said his kids didn’t believe he wrote “every breath you take” because they KNEW it was a puff daddy song. |
I agree, it is just so beautiful and so sad. Every time I hear it I get emotional. When I hear the new version it just makes me think of the original. I hope this kids who hear it today take the time to listen to the original as well. |
Sorry not sorry his rendition was wayyy better. There I said it! |
we heard you already |
Combs covered/copied this song religiously - he did not add his signature style to the song at all. So people who say his cover is waayyyy better cannot be believed. Combs is crazy talented and having his moment at country radio but in this case he did not make a huge improvement on the original (and no one has suggested otherwise)- and he was given proper credit for his copy cover. |
Thanks! I put a lot of thought into it. |
