Reading smut has saved my marriage

I’ve been in a smut rut. I just read Ali Hazelwoods problematic summer romance and it was pretty good but honestly so similar to her other books. I do love a good male main character looooonging after the FMC. Any recommendations along that line?

Ahh I almost thought I wrote this! Dh and I are having the best sex of our lives after 14 years of marriage. I definitely credit it to reading smut. Occasionally I’ve read a few pages to dh and he’s shocked. It’s really hot though.

I personally like the fairy/dragon/fae smut.

I’m incredibly well read and have a masters in English literature so I think this would shock most people. After having kids I felt a reading slump and now I’m reading a book a week at least. I stopped watching tv last November and can’t seem to get back into TV. I prefer my kindle at night. I also feel happier and am very interested in a lot of the plot lines too. By smut I mean it’s not straight porn, there’s maybe 5 sex scenes a book.

I guess I don’t see smut as a sub section of romance. In particular I don’t want a happy ending. I like complicated characters. My smut is more of a sub set of the main genre, like fantasy, historical fiction or science fiction. Romance always seemed a bit too formulaic to me.

It Ends With Us is the most famous but I loved Ugly Love and Verity.

I didnt find it ends with us all that smutty?

I think she was trying to focus more on a difficult subject matter in that book. The smut was very much secondary.

So few recommendations in the last year and half. Surely they have been some to recommend? Since then, I’ve discovered Julie Soto and really recommend her books. I also started reading Elizabeth ORoarke. You can find this on kindle Unlimited. I don’t like her stuff as much as Soto but still good.

I have read nearly all of Karla Sorenson’s books and really enjoyed most. They are not crazy smutty but I enjoy them. I will look through my history and see if I have any other recommendations!

So many pages, and NO ONE has recommended my favorite!

I'm like a lot of you, can't stand poor writing. And I love Sherry Thomas. She writes in several different genres, and while not bad, her YA and mystery stuff don't do much for me.

Her best stuff is 19th c London-season type settings, featuring modern/ non-traditional women, and evolved, intelligent men. She does a great job of lead-up/ sexual tension, and a really great job of the actual sex scenes. Hot without being gross.

Read this whole series:
Beguiling the Beauty
Ravishing the Heiress
Tempting the Bride
Claiming the Duchess

I've found my people.

I listen to Fated Mates and really like Sarah and Jen. I've gone to their live shows too. Full disclosure, 20+ years ago I read historicals but I just can't do them anymore. I keep telling myself that I need to pick up one of Sarah's books but thus far I haven't.

My favorites:

Lauren Dane: Brown Siblings series
Lorelei James: Rough Riders Series
Lainey Davis: Stag Brothers and their spinoffs
Lauren Blakely: Love and Hockey Series
Kate Canterbary: Walsh Series

Lauren Dane and Lorelei James have threesomes in the series I mentioned. Lauren Blakely has other series with threesomes but not in the series I mentioned.

I don't do dark romance. I prefer the MMC to not be dark, broody, silent types. I also don't love the moral ambiguity of dark romance.

Only a few Sarah MacLean available on Libby. I to have more time to listen to audio books during work than to read for pleasure at night with kids, etc. It's the "A Rogue by any Other", so far reminds me of Bridgerton.

I did find an in option to listen to some of the British Filth guy that someone suggested without having to sign up for an account or download the Reddit app. It is quite explicit, oh my, but Im here for it, lol!

Thank you. I’m a straight dude, but even I found that incredibly hot.
