No, those women are clearly doing something illegal. However, don't use anecdotes. The vast majority of people do not do this.

Wrong. You'd be surprised.

Happy to report that like most welfare recipients, I was off the doles after a couple of years. I am all for this.

Great! You pay for it. Send your check to FFX county.

That’s not how taxes work. Taxpayers don’t get a line item veto. There are plenty of things I’d rather not spend public dollars on, but I still gladly pay my taxes because that’s how government works. Chalk it up as a cost of living in civil society.

Do people get this up in arms about the billions of dollars of taxpayer money that go toward corporate subsidies? And the fact that major corporations take pains to avoid paying taxes?

Not to mention the multiple major bank bailouts that have happened in our lifetime.

Jesus Christ.

Many of those auto and banking bailouts were LOANS and were paid back in full. In fact, the US taxpayer ended up making PROFIT on those bailouts. Of course liberals never tell you the end of the story. They always conveniently leave out those details.

Except the songwriter says the songs are for poor people, not conservatives.

DP. Who said anything about conservatives?

This is something else he said:

In an interview with the Free Press following the overnight success of his viral so-called blue-collar anthem, the country singer said he hopes his music will inspire listeners to stop relying “on someone 150 or 500 miles away from them to solve their problems.”

“Nobody in Washington, DC, no one in the federal government’s coming to save us,” he said, according to a clip posted to X, formerly known as Twitter.

“The people that are going to save us are each other.”

Why is it anyone's God given right to move to someone the wealthiest and most expensive areas of the country, have zero education, zero specialized skills, or zero useful anything, then complain about being poor and demanding they get to extract wealth from the area just because they exist?

I'm so sick and tired of the entitlement mentality from the left these days. They should just be honest and admit they to confiscate wealth and redistribute it for 'equity' purposes. Human beings will never, ever be equal, because some people are much smarter than others, some people will work a lot harder than others, other people will take on more risk than others to start a business. Why should the state redistribute wealth? People are never equal, and you don't deserve freebies just because you exist and breathe air. We will all be equal when we are all equally in the toilet and below mediocre while simultaneously destroying any motivation to create, innovate, and to work hard.

I'm sure handing out freebies helps with poverty. Handing out free cash also helps with inflation, gambling addictions, and idiots buying cars with $1000 per month payments too.

Right?

I only make 100k but I want to live in Greenwich, CT. Someone should subsidize me.

I make a little over 100k and can barely afford my own property taxes in Fairfax County, which are now up to fully10% of my net salary (yes, they were much lower when I bought my house). They’re only going up astronomically every year.

Who is going to subsidize me? It’s absurd and insulting that we will potentially be getting even more fleeced just so other people can get cash handouts.

You're all right. Your custodians, childcare workers, public bus drivers, construction workers, food handlers, hospital staff, etc should all have to live hours outside of where they work.@@

You guys are so gross I can't even. Your premise is that low skilled workers you actually rely on do not get the same privilege as you (living where you work) because they are low skilled and poor?

Meanwhile, you enjoy the benefits of your property values and proximity while begrudging people living at near poverty level some quality of life.

ANd how do you manage this? By painting all poor people as drug addicts, gamblers, welfare queens, illegal immigrants, bad decision makers, and nameless faceless masses sucking your tax dollars away while refusing to see how YOU benefit from the tax structure in FFX county.

In other words, dehumanizing people while engaging in willful cognitive dissonance.

Sorry, pal. You cannot guilt-shame people about being angry that their tax dollars - which they work hard for - are going to provide free money to people with no strings attached... and even to people who are present illegally. This is some crazy-ass stuff.

Ours have gone up substantially in the past two years - 20% in the last year alone! We are self-employed. Is this the big plan for our increase in property taxes? Redistribution?

Would you feel better if this pilot program required recipients to pay money for the money? Or if the pilot program told the recipients what they had to spend the money on? How about Social Security - are you angry that your tax dollars, which you work hard for, are going to provide free money to people with no strings attached?

What privilege? Life choices have consequences. I chose to get straight As in high school while other hoodlums were busy Fin around in the streets failing out of their basic classes. I chose to get a college education in a difficult STEM field followed up by more years of graduate school education. I then worked hard to climb the ladder in my field.

My dad was a carpenter and my mom a social worker for the state. Please explain to me this privilege. It's not my duty to work my ass off so that the government can take what I earn and redistribute my money to people who made poorer life choices and earn less as a result.

It's called at will employment. If they feel like they're paid too low then they don't need to do their jobs anymore. They can find better paying ones. If their company doesn't pay enough and cannot get workers, then they'll have to pay more. It's not my job to ensure the make enough money to live. It's an expensive area and they choose to live here. They're free to also relocate to a less expensive area as well. Just because you exist doesn't mean you deserve to extract wealth from others.

Cash transfers to low-income households are one of the best ways we have to fight poverty and improve the lives of the most vulnerable, especially children. Turns out giving money to impoverished people relieves poverty. What a concept!

Here’s one recent study finding that cash transfers are associated with reduced mortality among women and kids: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-023-06116-2

I would at least want it tied to US citizenship and maybe 1 year of residence in Fairfax.

So, you are either married with a spouse with high income or you cannot afford your house. You have to be living way over your means in a million dollar house. Our property taxes are less than half of yours. V
