much worse on laptop.

Whoah! What happened?

On my laptop everything is much bigger, and therefore many fewer posts show up in a any given forum.

Don't like that b/c it means much more scrolling. Any given page has much less text on it.

This isn't a big deal as I'll just use the new design, but on /legacy when you go to post/reply, the emoticons on the left side are 404'ing.

It's a change, but I'll adjust. Of course you'll get people complaining as people tend to be resistant to change, but they'll get used to it.

The only item I'd suggest to consider is text size. Yes, it's easily solved by the user by adjusting zoom level on their browser, but if the majority of users find themselves needing to adjust the zoom (and I'm not sure if that's the case), then that's an argument in favor of setting the default text size so that no adjustments are needed for most users. I can't imagine a major website expecting most users to make adjustments just to use the site.

I don't use the site, but I'm sure this is a big improvement for those users, which is great.

Really not loving it on my laptop. One of the things I like about DCUM is that the interface never changes. Font is huge.

Text is huge.

I mean, I probably DO need bifocals, but for your middle aged readership, it is a wee bit on the nose ...

Agree that fonts are huge in laptop however it DOES work better on phone which the fonts were too small.
Now the phone experience is much better!
Thanks!

Ok. Not liking it at all. Hard to read on my Lenovo laptop. Other devices may be ok.

Phew! Thank God for this. Happy that old format is available

Did I miss it? What is the reason behind the change? To make more space to allow ads? New forums to be added?

Don't fix what's not broken...

The main reason for the change was to provide a better experience for mobile users. This has been a long-standing request.

Regarding font size, are those of you complaining that the font is too large using your browser at "actual size" for zoom level? Or do you have your browser zoomed already?

Dear Jeff,

In the old set-up, scrolling to the left revealed a forum menu, with a search and recent topics button.

In the new set up, that is not an option anymore. It is easy to to to forum index, but then finding recent topics is a hassle.

Can you consider either pinning "Recent" to the top of the forum index, or pinning it somewhere easily seen on each individual thread by default? Often, a thread may turn out to be unhelpful or too contentious for dumb reasons several pages into the topic.
Once that occurs, my natural inclination is to return to Recent Topics. Now that action takes multiple clicks or backpage swipes, which is especially not ideal in areas with spotty Internet coverage.

With appreciation,
DCUM user

I preferred the legacy format for my phone. Now I can only get 1-3 posts at a time with no way to zoom out and scan/scroll quickly.

I probably should cut down on DCUM time anyway.

Click on the menu at the top left - recent topics is there.

The 'started by' 'ended by' - I'd prefer the dates be first, then the started by. When reading from left to right, it is easier and more intuitive to put the placement there.

Just my two cents.
