LOL, so I can now kill people and claim mental health as my defense? Ok, go try that in any courtroom. "He triggered me so I had to shoot him!!" |
You keep claiming how harmful Christianity stance on abortion has been. What evidence do you have? You keep ignoring the fact that no mainstream church is advocating for not saving the mother when her life is at risk from pregnancy. Can you understand that? So what are we talking about here? That it's hard to define when her life is in danger, etc? Well guess what, it's always hard to define things in law and to draw lines, but we still manage to do it. We don't say "because it's so hard and traumatic to prove self defense, let's just make all murder legal and call it a day." |
Just because something is accepted by mainstream people doesn't make it morally right. If this post were talking about how most people feel, we can stop at what you said but since this is about morality and how to possibly draw a moral argument for abortion, majority rule is not going to cut it. Why do you think abortions are not inherently good or right? |
Sure. What are you going to do with all those embryos? Especially the ones that were removed because they have chromosomal abnormalities? |
Maybe give them back to you when they are newborns. Or garnish mom and dad's wages if state or another family will have to raise them. Point is, you can't claim bodily harm/"self defense" anymore. |
If the person lives in your body, yes, you may. Not until then. |
No. Separate from my right not to gestate, it is my right to decide whether my genetic material creates another person. I have moral obligations on this area that no outside party can be relied upon to discharge in my stead. |
Yes minors who are menstruating and are raped may and do fall Pregnant. Your seriously believe they and victims of incest should be forced to give birth to their rapists’ children? Another cause and effect is that maternity death rates have already risen in red states with anti abortion laws due to political interference in medical decisions. - |
I was so happy and *relieved* after my abortion. My boyfriend and I celebrated by going out to lunch afterward -- the first food I could keep down in 6 weeks. 15 years later we are child-free and shake our heads at these "fetuses are people" whackos. He is a recovering Catholic and i am agnostic. |
Ah i see, so now it is about genetic material. But it's not your genetic material. It is someone else's genetic material, do you understand that? You have fused your genes with someone else's to create a whole new being with his/her own genetic material. That fact has already taken place. Or do you believe that your parents should own you because you are their genetic material? |
"minors who are menstruating"? LOL. I can't reason with someone who doesn't even recognize biological sex. |
Tell me, how does the physical position of the person affect the validity of your mental health claim? You are claiming mental health, not physical health here... |
You’re really missing the point. For the same reasons that you can’t currently come to my house and take my eggs, you cannot take an embryo out of me and give it to someone else. As one of the biological parents of that embryo, even if it were removed from my body, my right to make decisions for it supercedes your interest in what happens to it. |
A person being fully contained within the body of another person os a sui generis case—not a matter of “position.” Honestly your arguments are terrible. |
You will get no argument from me. It is definitely about control. You are not entitled to my embryo any more than you are entitled to my kidney. And you are correct that I don't believe an embryo is worth protecting unless the woman who embodies it thinks it is. What real arguments would you like to have now? |
