It's part of the cross-country program that a DCUM poster had proposed a year or so ago to improve DEI at West County schools. |
This poster was a troll. |
| All of these posters are ridiculous. No one said anything about Langley Park. We were talking about distance from DTSS to Northwood vs. BCC, and the introduction of the Purple Line absolutely must be considered when making that calculation. That's all. |
Northwood is closer for people outside the beltway, but if this is about close in TKPK or SS, then BCC wins hands down. |
I know. I was kidding because it was outrageously laughable. |
They are roughly the same distance, depending on which neighborhood you're measuring from. In some places inside the beltway, Northwood is closer. And proximity is but one of the four factors. |
That 0.3-mile difference equates to about 25% faster travel time too! |
Neither of which will matter when the driver of rejiggering the boundaries with the combined Woodward/Northwood capacities is the much greater capacity utilization in the DCC versus BCC/Whitman/WJ/Woodward. Shifting the boundaries is a given, with cascading effect westward. They could even over-shift in comparison to current projections to account for a larger pipeline of development in one area versus another, if that is the case. The question is more which specific areas will shift. I'd think it more likely that Woodlin or ESS would shift to BCC than would close-in TKPK. More likely Woodlin because ESS without Woodlin would create an island (or close to it). I could see the TPES/PBES pair articulating to Northwood to relieve Blair, though that would mean split articulation for TPMS. I seriously doubt they would shift the magnets. |
It’s in the edge of Takoma park and certainly not “central to the heart of the city” given that it’s in a completely different city. Only someone who doesn’t live here would say something like that. |
MoCo snagged part of PG for Takoma Park. Maybe they can snag the TP part of DC. |
It's adjacent to the city center which is why its central. |
25% less travel time to BCC than Northwood is a significant consideration in my book. |
It's even much closer for the SS kids on the edge of the park. |
Come on. Look at any map of the city of Takoma park and it is on the edge and not central. There is no “city center” in TKPK though you could argue that the community center is one and that’s not the same location as the metro. What you are referring to is downtown Takoma park which, again, is on the very southern edge of the city of Takoma park and therefore not central. |
You come on. It is the very heart of Takoma Park. It is where the downtown is located and central to the area. |
