picture and tweet by ANC reps in Cleveland Park

She was somehow supplanted by Beau Finley as head of ANC3C. GGW and CPSG organized to get their followers to run for ANC positions. Finley and Pagats are inept. MacWood knew what she was doing. They do not. MacWood is professional and diplomatic. They are not. It’s a race to the bottom. Not impressed by the current crew.

She was not "somehow supplanted" but rather people in the community were ready for a change after 20 years of tight fisted fiat rule. Your conspiracy theories are quite a tell.

The change was a mistake. The FU ANC is not what the people wanted.

It wasn't a mistake. She has been thwarting any progress in Cleveland Park for decades, taking a very parochial view towards zoning, transportation, preservation and development. It has cost Cleveland Park the cache it once had. There is a reason businesses haven't been as viable on Connecticut Avenue. She made it an unfriendly place to set up shop.

Businesses have thrived in "new" neighborhoods like H Street, the Wharf, Navy Yard, Brookland etc at the expense of Cleveland Park. The only way for that to change was new leadership. A bunch of younger people who live on the Avenue realized this, ran for ANC and created the change they sought.

But sure, let's keep Cleveland Park as it has been for 50 years and continue to watch the tumbleweeds roll down the sidewalk by 8:30 each evening.

You realize that many of the ANC commissioners who were "elected" were the only ones to file? Sidiqui won in a tight race, but it's likely that he would have lost had the photo come out before the election. The other middle finger commissioners probably will face still challenges in two years.

How did Beau Finley even get to chair the ANC? He rents a pied a terre in DC but lives in a SFH that he owns in Maryland.

Not any more, the meeting last week was her last one. Where she decided to salt the earth on the way out.

Yes, let’s focus on this person instead of the people who did the bad thing.

How many units of housing and viable business that wanted to come to Cleveland Park has the former Commissioner cost DC taxpayers and Cleveland Park residents over the past 20 years?

What housing projects and viable businesses have not been able to come to Cleveland Park?

But you are saying developer money is involved. Where is it going? Who is it coming from? How did you find this out?

Not suggesting anything unethical or illegal. Referring to organizing, lobbying and endorsements in support of certain ANC candidates and against others by large special interest groups.

Like environmentalists and transit equity advocates?

Oh the middle finger ANC is all about what’s in it for themselves. F*%k everyone else.

what could anyone possibly gain from being on the ANC? It's thankless. They didn't run for themselves; they ran because they want to improve their communities.

Giving the middle finger and telling people in their community to “F” off seems like a really odd way to demonstrate that they are in fact community oriented. Seems like behavior that indicates the opposite of that. But what do I know?

A minority opinion telling people they prefer a parking spot to safety for pedestrians and cyclists is a middle finger.

Look the pro biking people have to respond this way because they know they are in the minority. Their display of hate and intimidation is the only thing they have. They are just like trump. It is interesting that one of the ANC members who created the hostile environment says she is a LBGT activist and union organizer. She seems anything but inclusive, value others position, etc. Her actions shows she is just full of hate for others.

You have it backwards, my friend. Just like Trump, you continue to fight a battle that is already over. The bike lanes are happening, just like the 2020 election is decided long since. YOU are the one that is like Trump.

Your reference to Trump is hilarious and ironic. The "Finger Five" ANC commissioners were endorsed and strongly backed by Donald Trump's pollster, the founder of Cleveland Park Smart Growth. He even fundraised onine for some of them.

At this point, all five of them have publicly apologized. Of course, many don't view that as enough and will never do so. Indeed, nothing, not even voluntarily being driven over by a late model BMW on Connecticut Ave will be enough. Their profanity was the crime of the century and they shall be deprived of grace and forgiveness for their insolence.

Just because you have apologized should not insulate you from criticism of your behavior.

At what point can people move on, though? Drunkenly flicking off a silly* sign on the biggest night of their lives isn't exactly the Trumpish malfeasance some want it to be. They did something bad. They got caught. They apologized. The argument that they only apologized because they were caught is absurdly circular. People only apologize when they are called out on their actions.

Should they take some heat? Absolutely. Should everything they do from hereon (in an elected unpaid role) be tainted? Nope.

* the bike lanes are coming, regardless of this ANC or any other Ward 3 ANC. Spending money to defeat city hall on a minor something city hall wants to do is futile.

Here’s the thing that you don’t really understand which I think underlies a lot of the problems being presented here. You don’t get to decide when “people move on”, the residents of CP and the constituents of these commissioners get to decide that for themselves. By trying to deny their constituents a forum to present their dissatisfaction with immature and offensive behavior, it demonstrates also a lack of respect for the people of their community. Commissioners should represent their communities. However in this case it seems that they hold contempt for their neighbors in very significant ways. To be honest with you, this whole episode is pretty sad and continues to reflect on the profound immaturity of these commissioners such that their fitness to serve is in question. If they cannot even face up to their neighbors in an open forum and take their medicine, then they should not be an elected representative of anyone because that accountability is part of the job.

They are. The overhwelming majority WANT the bike lanes. Get it? YOU are the MINORITY and you want to clog up everyone else's mail box with BS because YOU can't let it go.

The issue is not about bike lanes anymore. It’s about immature and offensive behavior followed by attempts to prevent their neighbors from providing them direct feedback about it. It’s pretty sad when elected officials are so petty as to abuse power to prevent public accountability. Particularly when all they need to do is listen to their neighbors and provide an unconditional. But it seems like acting like adults is too hard for these people so they want to hide behind Roberts Rules of Order. How pathetic.

The "Save Conn Ave" people LIE. BALDLY LIE. Like their entire site is full of horse$$it. They spin up crap all the time just to keep this seeming to be a contentious issue. But its just spin. They spam email the DDOT people on the project with crap just to forestall it. People who deal in facts are frustrated that these jerks are allowed to spread their drivel relentlessly by the biased curators for CP and CC Listservs. So yeah, flick off their signs. Good.

You people are extreme radicals. You have lost my support.

The bike lanes are happening with or without your support. Die mad about it I guess!

Who cares about bike lanes. The vast majority of people have no clue about your bike lane agenda. You and your supporters attack anyone who may have questions, oppose your vision or just realize you are an a$$hole. You stand against democracy. Your bullying, shouting people down and trumpist ways will not last.

The democracy here already happened. There have been over two years of community engagement to get to where we are now. Yet people like you want to subvert the will of the people to force your minority opinion. THAT is aggressive Trumpism at its finest. Look in the mirror.

The gerrymandering of the ANC was "aggressive Trumpism at its finest" ... by someone who used to work for Trump.

+1 Agree. All the gushing Twitter posts by the recently sworn in ANCs thanking the voters was all a bit comical. Especially the ones who ran unopposed. If being elected to the ANC is the pinnacle of someone’s professional career then the system is broken and we are not attacking the right talent. More people voted in our PTA election than our ANC election. Yet these new reps somehow think there is some sort of mandate for major social change. It’s all a bit much. Can you just get my leaves picked up first?

It's time to give it a rest.

No, the time to give it a rest was months ago, the rest is just stupid banter.

Because being against bike lanes is exactly the same as being against equal rights for all. Got it.

That's literally the bike PAC's/WABA agenda everywhere they go. They want to be treated as a protected class while disregarding every single traffic law put in place.

I don’t know how they stay open but I am glad they do since that’s where I get my vacuum fixed.
