| I just found this post looking for people in my situation. But I have a 1600 and just got rejected from UNC Chapel-Hill |
This is a proof that Harvard ain't all that. If you are a podunk reject, you, too, can join Harvard. |
Not surprising if you applied as a non-resident; quite surprising & infuriating if you are a resident of North Carolina. |
| I recently heard of a 1600 rejected from Notre Dame and deferred at Villanova. |
Doesn't matter where. All one needs is a BS and a MD. |
Screw UNC. You should be really proud of your score. You will land at a great school. There is no one perfect college and I’m sure you will have lots of great options. |
Exactly. Some state schools are near impossible for OOS. Then factor in UNC gpa infatuation. One of my kids thought about applying there. Quickly realized OOS and 3.8 (with a high but not 1600 SAT) was a likely nonstarter. |
lol no you didn’t, unless you are a felon or something. This thread has more BS than usual, and that’s saying something for DCUM. |
Wow! Congrats to your son! |
Ugh, sorry. FWIW, DD's friend had a 36 across board in ACT in one sitting, 4 800 subject tests (applied in last year used), 4.0 GPA (classes with most rigor, school doesn't weight, top private), published science research, 2 sport varsity athlete/captain, longstanding ECs, etc. Deferred then rejected @ 1 Ivy, rejected in Claremont consortium, rejected RD at another Ivy. Some folks get sideways in admissions, especially women. |
| Wow, where is this woman now? Would have been high school class of 2021 w/your ref to subject tests |
Ridiculous |
| Looking at all these 1600 scores meaning hood GPAs too and getting rejected is just …. so discouraging. |
*good |
| Cornell rejected 89% of its perfect score applicants last year. |
