If APS is dead set on sending this kid back to Swanson (and no pawning him off on a different school, thanks), they should at the very least have an admin shadow him. Every class, lunch, trips to the bathroom- everywhere. Bag and pocket search at the start of the school day. Make the choice, APS, because this kid shouldn’t be free to assault others.

The other schools need to be informed if this happens. And they need to follow the same outlined protocol if he ends up at their school

If this kid lives near Swanson, that's where they should stay. It's not fair to the rest of the community to send him somewhere else.

Virtual Virginia would be the best option for this kid.

And he'd be monitored by....?

The same parents who let him take a taser to school. Why wasn't it locked up?? Don't parents have any responsibility?

My thoughts exactly. Do people know who this child is and who his/her parents are? I imagine they are worried for their son as well. I would be terrified and not sure if I would want my child to go back to school until I could reasonably say they were not ay risk of harming others

Why can't kids stick to selling drugs at school anymore?

Many parents have engaged the school, APS and the police. I’ve personally exchanged emails with multiple people. Huge kudos to the moms who met in person with the principal and Supe. She isn’t alone in activism.

They aren’t going to transfer him to another MS. This young person needs significant help and hopefully will get placed in a setting more appropriate for him.

My kids went to elementary school with this child. I am very active in the PTA, and have never met the parents.

Is anyone else considering reaching to the administration on Monday to see what threat level we might expect on Tuesday. In other words, will this kid be at school and/or will police be onsite? With spring break discussion of this has subsided on DCUM, AEM and the Swanson FB page but it's been on my mind.

And what makes us think he'll limit his eyes on Swanson? If he's not allowed back and not in any sort of help program, he can literally go anywhere.

Did Swanson parents get any info on whether the child is returning today?

Because he made his threats against Swanson it's not unreasonable that parents there might be a little more worried than at other random schools. Compassion, please.

Nothing official, probably because that's a bit too close to the line of a single child's privacy. I've been trying to figure out language in an email that would ask "do we have reason to believe that anyone who could be a credible threat has access to the school building at this time" in a way that allows them to answer.

You are misunderstanding. This kid went to elementary school with kids at Kenmore too. He can probably walk to WMS and Hamm. I'm saying if no one is really helping this kid, putting him in an appropriate program, he can literally cause havoc anywhere. He's a threat to the community.

I'm not misunderstanding, I'm saying please stop making it about you and focus on the safety of the immediate area of concern. Of course he is possibly a risk to the broader community, but at this very moment the threat he made was against one particular school. Rather than making it all about yourself and your child at another school could you please give space for the families at this school (you know, the one whose name is the title of the thread) whose kids are on the receiving end of those threats?

I understand that you have tunnel vision because you are at Swanson. I'm not personally worried this kid will come to my child's school, not even in the slightest. I'm worried about the disservice to kids like this who apparently need help - suspension does nothing. What support do they offer to reduce the threat?

+1 He needs help. Overt threats, like failed suicide attempts, are a cry for help.

Too late, someone already picked up the torches and pitchforks for the mob.
