All true. And the "following week" mentioned in the FAQ I quoted isn't over yet. That's what I've been telling my kid. But on the inside the suspense is killing me!

My kid wasn’t told what to expect after her instrumental interview. Was your kid given any info or expectations?

He was told that the next step is a family interview, and that there would be a communication to schedule one if he passed. I don't think they told him when that would be. And he's asked me many, many times if I've received one.

There is a FAQ on the Ellington website that says to expect a communication from the school in the next week after the audition. Here's what it says:

What happens after the audition?
Admission to Ellington is a five-step process. After the initial audition you will be notified the following week whether or not you have been selected to continue in the process. Selected students will be invited back for an academic placement assessment followed by a family interview. Final admissions decisions will be made some time after the Admissions Committee Review, but no later than late March.

I feel for everyone, including myself and my DD!! I think since the auditions have started my anxiety has gotten the best of me! And I try to keep it cool for my kid's sake but I am about to lose it! Coming to this forum is the only type of relief that I can get, speaking with folks that are going through the same thing that we are. Wishing the best for everyone!!

This year has been SUPER weird for auditions due to the snow. And I know at least one department changed up their process a bit. But. I think it’s still safe to say that if your kid made it to the family interview, they are one step to being accepted.

Not a peep here. My kid emailed politely requesting info last week, but got nothing back.

I've been wondering how these proposed budget cuts will impact a school like Duke.

If you haven't had a family interview yet, you're likely not getting in on this round and may need to re-apply in the post-lottery season. But the school is not allowed to tell you that per DCPS policy. You'll get notified by MySchool DC.
