Congratulations! Which department? |
If you’ve made it all the way to the family interview, are your chances pretty high of getting in? |
Consider it Round 3 of the audition. It means you're a maybe. |
Honestly, it feels like these anonymous boards are made for people who (like me) must have ADD because it allows someone to make a definitive statement such as “Consider it a maybe” without ever stating WHY or HOW such a person has arrived at that decision. I would very like to understand — given so much is riding on this — more.
And BTW, it was the vocal department. Family meeting is later this week. For those who got this far — good luck — this is NOT for the faint of heart. For those who are still waiting to hear from any school, we KNOW how unfair this feels, our son did not get his number one school, so we understand. |
I thought consider it a maybe was pretty definitive. Meaning that some people consider a family interviews as a "yes" but we need to meet you first. "Consider it a maybe" means it's not a yes yet and you should proceed with the interview with the knowledge that it is very much still an audition. |
For those who got family interviews for next year, what department did you apply for? We have not heard. |
My child had a theater callback yesterday and we haven’t heard anything. I know other theater applicants that didn’t have a callback yesterday for interview invitations Friday. |
From what I know TDP, theatre and dance have scheduled family interviews. |
Radio silence in instrumental music. |
Same for Visual Arts.
Btw I believe a family interview is a significant narrow down of the list. |
I’m a new poster. I’m checking in to say my child had an instrumental music audition last week. We haven’t heard anything yet about an interview and the wait is agonizing. |
The wait is agonizing! My kid wasn’t told what to expect after her instrumental interview. Was your kid given any info or expectations? |
He was told that the next step is a family interview, and that there would be a communication to schedule one if he passed. I don't think they told him when that would be. And he's asked me many, many times if I've received one. There is a FAQ on the Ellington website that says to expect a communication from the school in the next week after the audition. Here's what it says: What happens after the audition? Admission to Ellington is a five-step process. After the initial audition you will be notified the following week whether or not you have been selected to continue in the process. Selected students will be invited back for an academic placement assessment followed by a family interview. Final admissions decisions will be made some time after the Admissions Committee Review, but no later than late March. |
Let's not panic yet. Remember, instrumental music auditions got bumped back a week due to weather. And it seems that no one's heard a peep yet. |
Current parent here, and this is more likely the case. It’s a yes, but we need to meet you and make sure you understand the time commitment involved. |
