The VA area is government heavy. The skills needed are not really stem related. Regarding Emory and GT, yes GT is better for STEM but Emory is still the better more prestigious school. No one thinks VT is better than UVA even though VT is better for STEM. When Biden went to go visit Atlanta after the mass shooting he went to Emory to speak not GT. Says all that needs to be said really.

GT CS is top 10 in the country, and its engineering programs are regularly ranked in the top 3. Emory doesn't have an engineering program. Emory could spend their entire $10 billion endowment on engineering and still not be where GT is today.

I'd argue GT is better than Emory in many areas and I wouldn't argue that UVA is the best in Virginia for everything a student might be looking for either.

The VA area is government heavy. The skills needed are not really stem related. Regarding Emory and GT, yes GT is better for STEM but Emory is still the better more prestigious school. No one thinks VT is better than UVA even though VT is better for STEM. When Biden went to go visit Atlanta after the mass shooting he went to Emory to speak not GT. Says all that needs to be said really.

Emory is not Harvard. Believe it or not, the drop off in prestige after the top 8 or so is massive.

No one said it was. But a top 20/25 is what it is. Emory's endowment is over 10 billion, GT not even 2. If Emory truly wants an full engineering program ( which they seem to be developing a partial one currently) they can do so. GT cannot afford a hospital. Also the outcomes for Emory CS is comparable to GT CS even though GTCS is ranked much higher.

I honestly don't have a dog in this fight, but the Emory boosters continuing to insist that Emory is "better" than GaT in departments that GaT doesn't even have is starting to make them look downright insecure.

Georgia Tech is no 1or 2 in the nation for aerospace engineering. My kid got in. Now doing a doctorate in electrical engineering at Princeton . You can’t do better. That’s why all the internationals want to study there
