OP, if you are able, please watch "All In", a documentary on Amazon Prime that highlights all the problems with the voting system and the history of why it is this way. It's extremely enlightening (and infuriating!) It will really explain all the answers to your questions.

Check into "The Best Democracy Money Can Buy" by Greg Palast. It's quite an eye-opening expose and history of voter disenfranchisement and other serious problems undermining American elections.

Republican state houses have passed laws across the country that they can just overturn elections they don’t like. People have given you numerous links to the GOP assault on voting rights.

Now. Let's see sone proof that is not anecdotal that African Americans cannot get voter ID. It may have been difficult in the past when people were born at home and did not register births, but those days are over. And, there were ways to get ID even then. My own parents were born at home,and had to take steps to get Social Security cards.

Please document. I have searched and cannot find it. If you mean a "sworn written statement under penalty of perjury" along with same day registration, that is hardly a photo ID.
