| also there is a morale and equity concern that leadership is trying to resolve. will folks doing the same job get pissed that they are making less just because they are not in a locality. I'm a 15-10 in DC. so I get 172,500. but on the rest of US scale it is only 166k. I don't see the equity issue here. if you decided to live in Nebraska and I'm in DC, your 166k will take you further. but not every employee sees it like this. |
I'm confused about why that is difficult? If "home duty station" means literally that, you just map your home address to the appropriate zone? In other words, I think I agree with these people... |
That is not an equity issue. Locality pay exists in part to AVOID equity issues. If I live in Omaha and get locality for DC, I am in effect earning MORE than my peers in DC. |
I don't understand it either. but that was the briefing they gave management. legal just needs to bless this. I don't understand. it's not like we are creating an entire new locality. it literally exist. |
I agree! I'm also using the example given to us in our management briefing. I feel like people can't believe it's a simple switch (cuz few things in the government are simple). so they are forcing themselves to dream up potential risks / problems, lol. |
It's more work for the payroll / admin people and they don't want to do it. Extra calculations. |
My agency too (maybe same one) and LOL at the question, good point! |
You forgot to mention your free paid vacation March- June. The rest of us were teleworking full time. |
| State goes back in January and USAID goes back in March. Are they reclassifying positions now? How do we find out if we’re eligible for more telework? Or is their silence the point? Nobody will be eligible for more telework? Back to max 1 day a week. |
Oh, please. This is like non-feds whining about our "free paid vacations" during shutdowns. |
Then they are free to live in the place with higher locality pay, right? |
This is hilarious. But I get the feeling 12:03/13:12/Agency not budging knows what they are talking about. The conviction is strong. |
Because cases are skyrocketing and I don’t want to bring COVID home to my asthmatic 2 yr old. |
| My agency just changed from mid-January to “sometime in February.” Super helpful information. Plus, zero details on what it would look like when we do return. Back to status quo? More telework? Staggered days? Who knows because we certainly haven’t been told a thing. |
| Any intel on what's going on with HHS? Phases 2B and 2C mysteriously postponed, now an all-hands on the calendar for next week. |
