Good luck killing your base off w covid and false flags.

I saw a (mocking) post on Twitter about it, and a friend whose kid is in private school knew it about it.

The problem is not the idea of Thanksgiving’s origin story is a whitewash. The problem is the language and the overwrought tone and the implication that Thanksgiving should be endured only with guilt. It’s that even the simplest and most widely positive experiences can’t be had without politicization, virtue signalling, and judginess.

Wake up. The country as you know it was built on exploiting certain peoples. Does knowing that and yet doing nothing about it help you sleep at night? Do you really want your kids to grow up ignorant? Believing in Santa is one thing but turning a blind eye to untold suffering of generations is quite another.

So you made the willful to come here to get your share of ill gotten gains? Go home. We don’t need immigrants that hate the country.

File him together with Trevor Noah: a “comedian” from a foreign country talking trash about a place he voluntarily came to and where he has had success, with the primary consumer being brain dead white liberals who think lapping up his “comedy” makes them cultured and intelligent.

You didn’t even watch it, did you? Jim is every bit as much an American as you could be. That he is an immigrant does not devalue his opinion one iota. Dissent by immigrants pretty much founded this country. If you don’t like that, maybe you’re the one who should leave. There are plenty of other countries where your intolerance of dissenting views and the rights of immigrants to speak freely are in line with prevailing norms, so you wont be short of choice.

"Thanksgiving is a day that can be difficult for many to celebrate as we reflect on the history of the holiday and the horrors inflicted on our indigenous populations. If you celebrate, our Equity team has shared resources for how you can consider decolonizing your Thanksgiving. "

Many of our families were not in the US at the time nor had anything to do with any of this.

And, the pictures they choose are interesting and show a huge lack of diversity and inclusion.

What does that have to do with anything? You are just as terrible as that paragraph

But go ahead, perhaps instead you can celebrate the day Ghengis Khan visited my town.

I’m ok with dissent, and recognize that immigrants can think what they want to think. But here’s the thing: why come to a country if you have so many issues with it? Why expect to be accepted if you do, particularly of that country has given you a bigger platform and more success than many homegrown citizens will ever see? It’s just terrible, trashy behavior and does not deserve any praise at all.

Good grief. Is there anything progressives won’t ruin or make miserable? Can we just be thankful and enjoy some food? My family hadn’t even come here yet, and I DO feel gratitude for the opportunity this country has given me.

So is Christmas, Easter, and every other holiday you could come up with. And I’m sure you have many criticisms of the 4th of July and all the historical inaccuracies therein.

But what good will come from eliminating every tradition and celebration from a society? Is that really going to be an improvement? Must every festive occasion be turned into an opportunity to reflect on oppression and if so when are we allowed to experience unifying moments of joy in our culture? Can you even have a society without any traditions that cause people to bond, feel nostalgia, and connect with neighbors?

Im honestly curious what the end game is here. Is the plan to create new traditions and celebrations in the progressive society of the future?

Well we should obviously tear down the Greek temples and great pyramids, too (slave labor). Pretty much everything needs to hit the dumpster . . . Except a few blocks Portland or Seattle (whichever one has the free zone paved in human feces $
& addicts).

I'm the OP. Have lived in DC for nearly thirty years, in nearly all wards (SE, NW, and NE). Kids in DCPS. Believe it or not there are people in this city who have reached the limits of their tolerance for this BS, especially after more than a year of closed schools. Between that and the crime and the consistently feckless behavior of the mayor, city council, etc. it is clear this city needs new leadership.

Oh, and it's "sow" discord, not "sew." If you're going to condescendingly attack your political opponents at least learn to use the correct words.

The far left are determined to hector every single time someone has fun and isn’t woke. It’s thanksgiving. It’s a meal. We don’t talk about this history at all. I seriously doubt anyone is truly triggered by thanksgiving. And if they are they have led a charmed life. I get why democrats voted for Youngin.

+1.

Yep. I’m a Democrat who has increasingly had enough. NOTHING can be positive. EVERYTHING has to be torn down. It’s Taliban-esque and scary. Pretty soon they’ll try to shame laughing or dancing.

I want to have a yummy meal with my family and feel gratitude for our many blessings, thank you very much.

Tearing down white supremacy shouldn’t be something for you to scoff at. And the United States has no authority to tear down anything in those countries, so not sure why you’d even big to use those as examples.

Thanksgiving stems from our country’s evil past. I think if we truly just want it to be a day of thankfulness why do we keep it on the same day and keep up similar traditions?

Honestly I think because it doesn’t effect enough people is the reason why we don’t care. If it involved black, Asian, or non white hispanics I’m sure we’d care more.

I’m sure native Americans here would agree.

Welp, getting popcorn for the midterms. This is precisely how VA was lost.

Nobody has a problem pointing out that the pyramids were built by slaves. But make similar observations about this county and conservatives get their panties in a wad and cry and cry. It’s pathetic.

The Dems deserve every lost seat. Instead of self awareness and a much needed assessment of just how insane their message has become, however, we will get "This is white supremacy!!"

Unfortunately DC is a one-party town, so the inanity and dysfunction will continue here in perpetuity.
