Fall 1990
Class valedictorian 1410 SAT Small town in TX did not offer AP classes Accepted Johns Hopkins Cornell University of Texas Rejected Harvard Yale |
|
SAT: 1350
GPA: my school didn't do them but A/A- average Top private school in NYC Princeton - no Yale - no Williams - no Bowdoin - waitlisted Hamilton - yes UVM - yes St. Lawrence - yes 7 kids in my class when to Princeton, 5 to Yale, 4 to Williams. I didn't have as good stats. Competition was fierce. |
|
Fall 1996
GPA 2.7 (this included APs that I did well in, but some of my other grades were dismal) SAT 1430 Accepted: ECU WVU (attended) Wake Forest GMU Rejected: VA Tech I think the only reason I got into the schools I did was because I was involved in a specialized creative pursuit and had a related letter of recommendation. I am so scared of my kids performing as poorly in HS school as I did. |

|
1989 grad
3.4 GPA 1170 SAT Applied to one school on a whim after an unstructured gap year and got in: UMD |
| I remember my SAT score because my goal was to break 1000 and I got a 1010. I was so happy. I told my mom that she could cancel the SAT test for the next month since I reached my goal. She said no since she already paid for it and she wouldn't get a refund. That scores was just under 1000. I can remember that from 1992 but nothing important about what's going on now. |

1984
Asian from a small town in rural South, no APs offered. UW GPA was 3.9+? SAT 1360, ACT 32 Admitted: Columbia, Cornell, Penn, Dartmouth, Johns Hopkins, Northwestern, Berkeley, Tulane Rejected: Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Brown |
|
1984
GPA 97/100 unweighted Ranked 2/300 from a NYC suburban high school Class president 1300 something SAT State rep at National leadership conference ED acceptance to UPenn |
Where did you end up going? My SATs weren't a lot higher at 1150 or so, even though my GPA was around 3.6. This was in 1980, so I've read that means the SAT scores would be a bit higher with the current scoring. I went to Miami University in Ohio. I don't think my GRE scores were stellar either, but I managed a full ride for graduate school. |
