Valedictorian at international magnet HS like TJ; best in that country SAT in the 1500 (1510 or 1530, I don't remember) with ESL, perfect math I remember writing a very sappy and dramatic, however very sincere essay about surviving war in my home country EC: modeling for years, mostly print but also some runaway Admitted to Yale, Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Chicago. Rejected from Harvard and Pomona. Went to the school that gave me a full academic ride; I assumed they wanted me the most. |

1976 1360 SAT Don’t recall gpa but ranked #10out of 320 at well-regarded suburban publiic UPenn accepted and attended/graduated Northwestern. Accepted Trinity( Hartford). Accepted Tufts. Accepted University of Rochester accepted No help from clueless parents. Typed and mailed applications |

GPA 3.4 (ranked 98 out of 503, so barely top 20% Graduated FCPS but went to an international school freshman and sophomore year (dad was us military) Verbal 620, math 710, total sat 1330 White female, parents went to community college but never went away to school (no legacy) Accepted UConn (safety) JMU honors program UVA Waitlisted Wake forest William and Mary Did not apply for no good reason: VA Tech There is no way I would get into UVA with those stats today, and probably not JMU |

This were almost identical to my husband's stats from 1990! #4/300+ at a top tier public high school. 3.9, 1450+ State level in one varsity sport (not recruited) and orchestra Rejected at all Ivys but Cornell. |

I am from Louisiana. I applied and was waitlisted at Georgetown. My inspiration? A trip to DC...but really St. Elmo's Fire! lol. And the Final Four tournament.... |

SAT was 1550 GPA was 3.9 Applied early decision to UVA and went there. My boyfriend was there. Parents and guidance counselors were no help at all. I had no idea Ivy League schools might be an option for me. It worked out completely fine but perhaps not the best thought-out decision. |
