Russian Anti American Broadcasting on our airwaves - WTF?

Anonymous
Has anyone else noticed the uptick in Russian propaganda and anti-American misinformation on the local radio and TV??? I'm talking about RT TV (Russian Television), Radio Sputnik on DC FM radio, Fox News, etc. Why does our government give the Russians airtime on our media to spew this garbage and anti-American misinformation? And who are these Americans that are working for the Russians on the radio and TV. Obviously, Tucker Carlson has been bought by Russia with big $$, but why would lowly paid Americans work for the Russians on these stations? What government agency do you complain to?

You do realize that the whole green movement is financed by russia so they can keep us buying their oil?

NP.. why would the green movement encourage more oil?

Are those stations owned by conservatives? I'm betting they are.

LOL, are you that sense. The green movement in Europe were useful idiots to have them solely reliant on Russian oil. That’s how Russian disinformation really works and they fell for it perfectly.

But as for the airwaves here. OP, I suggest you contact the House Un-American Activities Committee. Ask for Senator McCarthy.

I actually kind of like Russian media. It's possible that a lot of what you think is anti-American misinformation is actually just American history? I was listening to Sputnik radio a couple of years ago and that was actually the first time I heard about several massive race riots in the US (and yes, I fact-checked). And who was the radio host? A Black person, who probably wouldn't have been able to have the roundtable conversation on another station.

I get that it's extremely fraught right now to let Russia have a platform, though. But on the other other hand, making some kind of punitive "f you" statement to Russia isn't going to help. Putin has nukes and his ego is extremely fragile; I think I'd rather just let the stupid propaganda run on these few obscure outlets rather than piss him off more for no good reason.

I can't believe we taxpayers allow that Russia to broadcast misinformations and propaganda on US airwaves. Where is the outrage? Why are people still watching Fox News when every day they are broadcasting pro-Russian, anti-American propaganda?

Aside from Fox News, where do you watch or listen to these Russian channels?

I have thought this for a while. Shell and BP are constantly talking about carbon capture and wind farms...

The less oil America produces, the more we rely on the ME, Venezuela and Russia. America also extracts the oil with less environmental damage than other countries.

The problem with these pro-Russian broadcasts that they talk about things that are true and factual and then they throw in some lies. People get confused by it. They consume the information in its entirety and swallow it whole. Fox News does it too, even when Tucker Carlson admitted that he was on the Russians side - on TV, people still believe what he says and don't realize he is a Russian asset, even when he outed himself. It's insane.

I don't understand why you care so much? The vast majority of people in the US are firmly against Russia in the Russia-Ukraine war. And even if people were to be persuaded by dumb Russian propaganda, it wouldn't have a practical impact.

Right now, in the USA, there are gamers on YouTube who are spewing white supremacist content they aim at young boys. There are American men and boys on TikTok encouraging violence against women. Heck, we have neo-Nazis here (and note that we protect their speech). So no, I'm not particularly outraged about RT.

The US needs to get rid of it's oil addiction so we are never under the thumb of oil producing countries. It's ridiculous that we are here in 2022. Oil companies have bought the politicians in this country to keep us buying oil as long as po$$ible. If Elon Musk didn't disrupt the automaking market, we would be much further behind in getting off oil.

Totally, and, that's exactly what Russian propaganda has done in their country so well, so that now you get lots of Russians saying "you can't trust the media, but we know Putin will do what's right since he got us out of an economic depression." But still, I find Russian media really interesting to listen to, and I don't think anything that escalates is the best course of action right now.

We had a president that is a white supremacist and a Putin loyalist and people voted for him, so they are probably cool with Russian propaganda too.

I know you know that there is a difference between being "cool" with something and "not being particularly outraged" about something, so just stop.
