| Got a Gizmo for DC (10) for Christmas. Generally happy with it with one very large caveat: I can’t charge the damn thing! We hook the watch up to the charger and at many times it just refuses to charge. I checked the Verizon help page and tried “triclkling” which I guess is just hooking the USB charger to his computer - thst will turn it back on but won’t continue to charge it. Unfortunately DC has allowed the watch to go down to zero and now can’t use it. I also tried the other suggestion: cleaning the watch snd charger base with alcohol wipe, but that doesn’t work, either. Have even gotten a message saying”please use the charger that came with the watch”, which I’m clearly doing. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, what have you done to fix it? Is it just a lemon of a product? Was hoping to hold off on getting a phone for DC for another year and thought this was a good “bridge”, but now don’t know what to do. |

We got DC a Gizmo at the start of the pandemic. Haven't had any problems.

Wow, so helpful = thanks

| I am not a techie, but have you googled this issue? Sometimes there is help out there on the inter webs. Not sure who makes this product, but I would call their 800 number for help and maybe they will give you another charger. Sorry, this is the sum total of my skill set. |
Yes, as referenced I went on the Verizon help page and followed all of the steps. They were unable to fix my issue .The rest of the internet had nothing. |
| I had the same issue. It’s some sort of bug with the device and happens with some of them and doesnt with others. I have friends that never had the issue, but googling makes it clear that it’s not totally uncommon. We’ve had three - two had this issue, one didn’t (but DD lost that one). I tried all the suggestions, too, and nothing worked. I called Verizon and basically because we were outside the warranty, they wouldn’t do anything. We just gave up on buying them. |
| We had charging issues too. I bought another charger and it worked. It’s moody. |
|
UPDATE: I spoke with Verizon again. After several attempts to troubleshoot, they said it is under warranty and they are sending me a new one with the same #. We'll see how well this one works!
I'm just surprised that every review page I read, whether it be Best Buy or the electronic trade sites, did not raise this as a common issue. The only place I saw this common complaint was on Verizon's own site. |
This was going to be my suggestion, glad it worked. |
UPDATE: We received the new device, but in the time it took to get here, the old one started to work again. It has been consistently charging for over a week now. Just got a notice from Verizon to ship my old watch back or risk getting charged. NOt sure what to do - should I send the new one back and risk the old one breaking down again, or just switch to the new one and send the old one back, that is now working? |
| We had this problem with our Gizmos. Finally gave up and got Gabbs. So much better. The Gizmos are awful |
| We are having the same issue -- what did you do to get it working again? |
|
We’ve had this problem w 2 of these now. It’s a poor design issue. The electrodes get dirty while being worn.
Use a q-tip and some alcohol and clean the contacts on the watch real good. Push it in and twist at each one. Also clean off the charger electrodes. It will work for a couple of days then you’ll need to clean it again. |
I am currently on the phone with Verizon. I am so disappointed with this watch. I would return it if my son didn't love it so much. The same thing has happened to his. "Use the charger that came with the watch" which I have been doing. Not ok. They are sending a new charger to the store for me to pick up. If this doesn't work I am returning the whole damn thing and just going to get him an apple watch. I have totally had it with the Gizmo. |
| Charging design and functionality suck on this design |
