For those who are experts on intermittent fasting, curious what your take is on having coffee with a little milk/almond milk/cream during your fasting window. I have heard as long as you don’t have more than 50 cals you’re still in a fasting state, but wondering if that is really true or not. Does it impact weight loss or the health benefits of fasting or not really since it’s so minimal?
What does UB say? |
| It's fine. I mean seriously, how many calories does coffee really have as long as you're not adding a ton of sugar and artificial creamers. Not too much. It's fine. |
|
I have always done IF and used coffee plus creamer. Eating my first meal at 2pm.
Recently I switched to international delights sugar free creamer. Maybe it's a coincidence but I've been dropping 1 lb a week consistently (since January!) Nothing else has changed. I'm convinced dropping the sugar is what really propelled my weight loss. |
| Coffee with a heavy splash of whole milk is all I consume (plus water) between 8pm the night before and 2pm the next day. I’ve eaten this way for about 8ish years. |
| It’s fine. I lost 40lbs last year doing IF and hardly any exercise. Have a coffee with cream and sugar every morning, but otherwise just lunch and dinner. |
| I use stevia and a splash of Nutpods in mine. No issues losing. |
|
the milk that goes into coffee if it's 0% it will be about 75 calories, if it's full fat it will be about 150 calories
so no, it is not "nothing" |
How much milk are you putting in?? I tablespoon of milk is 6 calories. |
| A cup of coffee with 2 TBSP of a Nut Pods creamer. Otherwise, fasting window from 7:00 PM - 1:00 PM. |
| I guess I'll be the odd one out. I'm doing IF not just to lose weight but to rebalance my hormones. Even calorie-free sweeteners cause an insulin response in the body, so I do black coffee with some cinnamon in it. |
For IF you actually are better off using 50-100 calories of heavy whipping cream than nonfat milk, which has sugar. |
| No issues with coffee with heavy cream in the fasting window for me |
Huh? Your math sucks. 8 ounces of whole milk is 150 calories. No one is putting 8 ounces (i.e.,a full cup) of milk into their coffee. If you're going to lecture people on counting calories, learn how to count. |
| Cold brew coffe with splash almond milk is HOW I get through the fasting window. It’s been a year, I’m.a size 2 now |
Lots of weird posts on this thread. Skim milk does not have added sugar, and the amount of naturally occurring sugar is virtually identical among skim and whole milk and cream. |
