MIT today

Is anyone's DC eagerly waiting for MIT regular decision today?

My DC from magnet was waitlisted for Caltech over the weekend and is hoping he would get into MIT. What does waitlist for Caltech mean, and chances of getting in? His dream school is MIT.

Can people share stats of their DC awaiting acceptances today for MIT?

Good luck to everyone! As a parent of second kid, I really feel for the kids. They have dreams and they have the rights to dream at this age. Whether it is realistic or not, having dreams and trying are better than saying “I could have”. I have mad respect for this generation!

MIT grad here, in theory because Caltech undergrad is less than 25% the size of MIT's enrollment it's probably harder to get a spot (I know the stats probably don't say that, but it was somewhat the belief at MIT).

That said, it's a total lottery. Good luck to your kids today! I still remember my Dad handing me the giant tube and I couldn't believe it.

Full IB student with 3.98 GPA/4.52 wGPA and 35 ACT with good extracurriculars, looking at the Sloan School. Deferred EA, and I assume its a very long-shot for admission today, but you never know.

My older child, a girl, was accepted but she chose a different school. My suggestion is to apply broadly. It was very stressful!

Very nervously waiting for the decision today. Hopeful for my high-stats girl (whose interviewer let her know they gave her a +1).

However, also staying realistic that she will not get in (so many qualified applicants…) Just trying to be outwardly calm and help her cope w the L.

Best of luck to all these kids who took a shot at their dream school!
