| We decided to allow our now vaccinated 5yo preschool child to school maskless. She came home with a cold. Tested her twice and both tests negative. In the past two years, she has not been sick. One thing I will miss is kids not being sick. |

Kids are supposed to get sick sometimes. It's actually good for them (in the long term). The immune system is like a muscle, and it doesn't get stronger if it doesn't have to work and develop.
|
| Correlation does not equal causation. Remember #science? |
+1. Colds are annoying and I certainly haven’t missed the lack of illness over the past two years, but it isn’t healthy for your immune system to go thoroughly unchallenged, especially in younger children. |
| We mask every single place we go and still get colds. |
| Let's hope it's just cold. keep her home please. |

Same Op!
And I think I might put on my mask simply bc the pollen is starting to get bad. |
Tests have been negative. |
| A cold ran through my family when kids were still masking. Such is life. |
| Right. My kid got a cold from school before masks became optional. It happens. |
| I’m all in favor of masking but DS has had five colds since September. |
| Huh? Kids are supposed to get all kinds of colds and sicknesses as children. It helps them and their immune system. Whereas if they get sick as adults it can be debilitating. |
The incubation period for a child is three days. Your kid did not get a cold at school. |
|
We've been wearing masks for two years and have gotten several colds. Your post is odd. We stopped masking at school about a month ago and have not had a cold, but I'm sure we will soon.
Yes, you have to remind young kids not to lick things - they've gotten so use to having their mouths covered I noticed I had to tell my kids to just touching their faces when their masks were off. But, this is very normal and not at all a big deal. |
Which is why people test the hypotheses to determine which of the correlated variables are both predictive and extremely likely to be causal. Remember science? Many people apparently didn’t get that far. |
