Ouch. I am sorry. What grade and what’s your backup plan?
Anonymous
not really. I heard the myth so and so did... but in reality, very rarely.

Very unlikely. Waitlist is just polite reject.

if they are like GDS, yes. we were waitlisted then on monday got an email from admissions--we thought it was yet another email about details or thanking us for applying but it was telling us child was being offered a spot. so pay attention to your emails this upcoming week, don't assume there wont be action on the waitlist till after the decline date.....

STA never really moves.
Sidwell does.

My child was also waitlisted everywhere, which in our case was Sidwell, GDS, and Potomac. Is everyone who is not admitted just waitlisted?

Two of my kids were waitlisted everywhere. One full on rejection. One accepted (I have a lot of kids).

wait a week and then write a first choice letter to one of the two.

I'd imagine STA is unlikely to move on WL, but a friend's kid did get offer of admission off of the Sidwell WL in late June/ early July

OP: 9th grade and 7th grade. Two boys applied to both schools.

Is there ever any movement on Maret or GDS's waitlists? The letter from GDS says that they accept 6-10 kids from the waitlist but that seems like a lot.
