I haven’t tried these—what makes them worth seeking?

They are super sweet and don’t have the thick pith like some oranges do.

Wegmans has them but not so cheap.

They are also extremely easy to peel.

They are sweet, easy to peel, not as sour as a regular orange. They're amazing and only available during a limited window of time.

So wrong. It’s not a trend. We’ve been getting them for years. They’re seasonal.

They are definitely expensive though.

I thought they were kind of dry

Whole PayCheck typically has them on sale.

Regular oranges aren't sour ^^^.

Is this huge difference in price really worth it though?

Fwiw, the hype around honey crisp apples (which were supposed to be so much sweeter than your regular go-to apples) were good, but not for the price point abd certainly not worthy of the hype.

Guess it depends on your budget. I think sumo and honey crisp are worth it - my kids gobble them up. They won’t even touch regular oranges.
