ECNL moving to school year not calendar

That would be good if ECNL decides to promote/go with heavy Q3/Q4 cohort. I don't believe that's how it will go down but if it does those disappointed parents/parents would move to a GA with BY if needed.

Suck it!

Maybe in a few years. If rosters are 80-90% Q1/Q2 now in ECNL, they'll be able to compete with Q3/Q4 either at their level or below. The age effect will reverse this of course over time. Additionally, the clubs can't afford to upset this large current customer base. If you believe otherwise, you are deluding yourself.

They will add many Q3/Q4 RL players and other small clubs, and keep all existing players. It will be a big roster of 25 players. Very good for the ECNL clubs!

I feel like the older the age group, the less Q3/4 regional players you will find taking over NL player Q1/2 spots

I think the director of the ECNL clubs already knows the proposal. Nobody will disclose it as it is pending USSF approval. ENL and USSF should have already finished negotiating for the final plan that both parties can accept. Let's wait and see. I already have several plans depending on the outcome. I hope you are too!

I was told ECNL will not make any changes until 26/27 by my clubs director. ECNL west coast club. Could things change? Maybe…?

False. We’re totally out of the loop. Parents knew something was brewing before we did.

Goodbye YNT, mommy and daddy need to feel better about little Jonny’s soccer dreams of playing for VCU.

ECNL directors are saying no change for 25/26.

What happened to the SY showcase/tournament exception to BY in 25/26?

Is anyone actually confirming the change for 26/27?

Hahaha this is the real question.

If MLSN + GA keep pulling over clubs and they stay BY it will be difficult for ECNL to do SY.

Agree. And ecnl has been so silent.

You understand this is bigger than ECNL, GA, and MLSN jockying. The removal of the mandate impacts all of the feeder systems into those leagues. Which is arguably bigger when you consider who will even be considered for these "top" leagues.

Our ECNL director told us to withhold buying air tickets for the playoff. So you are bluffing.

Here's the truth that people won't tell you about BY vs SY.

When players are younger it does matter when they were born. Kids grow fast and when they're younger 6 months means more mature, better able to handle the ball, etc. However once they hit u14/u15 girls are 90% done growing. You know which ones are going to have a physical advantage and which ones won't.

What this means is BY or SY doesn't really matter once players hit puberty and it definately doesn't matter once players are u17.

Here's another weird thing you wouldn't expect. The early developers tend to get career ending njuries like ACL tears in HS while later maturing players get injuries in college or even later in life. These are things coaches are looking for that parents don't expect. If a kids on crutches as a junior in hs there's a good chance they'll reinjure themself playing in college.
