Thoughts on fat-free half and half

Anonymous
I finally broke down and bought some. I LOVE half and half in coffee but like to use too much . I don't care for lower fat milk in coffee. Usually I consume only organic dairy but haven't seen an organic fat free half and half. I first tried weaning myself down to a smaller amount of h/h but just don't like a little--I like a lot. So...thoughts? The ingredient list on this crap is frightening.

I'm less scared of the fat than the stuff in the fat-free. That said, I only get half and half as a treat and make do with milk most of the time.

Personally, I use the real stuff, not the fat free. Why bother? Overindulging in real half and half in your coffee is not going to tip you up a dress size. If it is a problem, make yourself measure it with a spoon. the ingredient list on the fat free IS frightening and a lot of it is just fillers. You have to wonder if you're really better off. It probably doesn't make a difference either way, but why not have the real version of what you really love?

Life's too short, and coffee's too good, to drink it any other way than you love. "Fat-free half and half"...read it...it's absurd. Drink up!

Fake H and H weirds me out. I just use small amounts of the real stuff, like sour cream, too.

What is fat free half & half??? Sounds like an oxymoron.

Also love my half and half too much. I tried the fat free and absolutely hated it. So I measure mine out and once I hit my daily allotment I stop duinking coffee. I'd rather have less coffee than less half and half.

How can cream be fat free?

Gross. But then, I prefer Coffeemate and am no gourmand.

I'm trying to rid my diet of all the fake stuff, so I use real half and half.

For me, I noticed that a carton has 16 servings, and I put less than that in my coffee. At 35 calories a serving, and me using probably 3/4 of a serving, it didn't seem worth it. I just figure fat free cream is weird.

Ingredient list, 'nuff said...

Nonfat Milk, Corn Syrup, Cream, Artificial Color, Sodium Citrate, Dipotassium Phosphate, Mono and Diglycerides, Carrageenan, Vitamin A Palmitate.

While the idea of fat free half and half is somewhat odd, none of those ingredients is particularly unusual or bad for you. FF half and half is basically skim milk with sugar and thickeners. I use it sometimes, but to be honest I prefer whole milk.

Yeah, the reason you don't see organic fat free half and half is because half-and-half is naturally fattening--milk and cream. Yummy. Just seeing the ingredient list on the fat free stuff is enough to turn me off. That said, i daydream about dairy now that I can't have any (still EBFing and my baby has a milk allergy).

I bought it and then noticed all the ingredients. The taste was no so great either. I can reduce sugar and fat from a lot of things, even most things, but not my coffee. I am a total freak about coffee having a particular taste. I won't even drink coffee made in a most coffee makers. It ruins the flavor.
