| Has anyone had a great prenatal massage at a place they'd recommend? I'm in Silver Spring, but willing to go to surrounding areas for a good one - bonus points if they have one of those tables with a hole for your bump so you can lay face down - these third trimester aches are itching for some relief! |
| There is no such thing as a “great” prenatal massage. Waste of money, wait u too after birth for a postpartum massage. |

Spa on the Hill had fabulous massages. They build the table up so you can lay on your stomach.
I traveled from Arlington for it — totally worth it. I went through two pregnancies. |
I went here once and agree it was great! |
Sorry you’ve never had one. |
I agree with PP. No one will give me the pressure I need for it to make a difference. |
| rather than the massage, I went straight to a Physical therapist. They do some sort of massage first to get to the root of the problem, then teach me a ton of exercises. In 3-4 weeks, I've seen lasting relief. With massages, the pain goes away during the massage, only to return hours later. |

I had a prenatal massage at the W in DC 4 years ago... it was incredible.

Tell them. A massage therapist with proper prenatal training will work at the therapeutic level needed. I’m a lmt and received a sports massage and myofascial release during pregnancy. Use your words and give feedback. Def seek out non spa practice too, find a wellness center or more clinical massage practice that has prenatal certified therapists. I wish the Well was still open. |

This! No joke. Caressing my leg is not a massage. Massage therapist are legally not allowed to put pressure on pregnant clients. |
Deep tissue massage on your lower leg is contraindicated, but they can put an elbow into your glutes and work IT band super intensely as needed. Speak up if you’re not getting the massage you want. It’s absolutely not illegal to apply pressure- but you need yo work with someone that knows how to do it safely. Ask questions when booking. |
| I recently went to Zen Massage in Friendship Circle. I did a chair massage for my back and then moved to a lounge to have my legs done. A little cumbersome to move around but I cannot lie on my sides because my hips hurt too badly. They used good pressure for shoulders l, neck, arms and legs but avoided my lower back. |
| I've had a few at Woodhouse (they have a couple locations) and my husband actually has joined me for a couples massage for them. They prop you up when you're on your back so you're at an incline and then you actually lie on each side. I almost feel asleep during my last one. |
