(Warning I have had a few drinks)
It was at a new coworkers house. My New Years resolution was to be more social and I regret it SO MUCH. This woman…omg…I can’t even. She has an adorable picture of her son on her desk and talks about him and he’s FAKE!!! He’s one of those creepy real life baby dolls!! I spent 5 hrs of my life being social with a woman who has a nursery for a doll. A Doll! Things I said tonight: he really is such a good baby. Uh, sure I can hold him. I like the colors of the nursery, very soothing. She doesn’t want real kids. But to her he’s her real kid. I have so much to unpack and I need to find a new job because I’m not going to be able to deal wi the this trauma drama. Don’t socialize with coworkers guys. Just don’t. |

| Regret?? This is amazing |

Please tell me the name of this doll. I must know.
Larlo? Pierpont? Chuckie? |
| Wow. Did no one ever notice that baby stayed a baby? |
| No worries OP - once you take a nap and wake up, I guarantee you that you will have a huge laugh after re-reading this post. 🤣🤣🤣 |
Thanks for the chuckle - I would be way more traumatized by an middle aged male colleague with life size doll spouse … there are many of them according to one documentary I saw. They act like they are totally in love with the custom made dolls, dress them, name them, take them for car rides and sit them at the dining table when they eat. Now after thinking about it - I see what you mean - It is so sad … But if these dolls fulfill some deep human need in them, then so be it… there are much worse things they could be doing … |

Maybe it was a real sleeping baby but OP was too drunk to realize it! |
Here's my thing. You couldn't tell from the picture that it's a doll? Are you sure it's a doll? |
|
Oh, no! Why did you stay so long? Something could have happened to you. I'm glad you made it home. There are so many crazy people in this area. You're going to have to get better at choosing friends. Stay away from peoples homes and apartments until you know them better.
Sounds like something a former neighbor might do. She only watched childrens movies and wore pigtails sometimes even though she was in her 40s. She liked mary janes with striped knee socks and a skirt. Reminds me of when I was in the ER, there was a mentally ill grown woman talking to her dolls and stuffed animals. She had real kids though. |
I thought very seriously about doing this before I had kids, when three companies in a row that I worked for babied and coddled the parent employees and gave them absurdly endless flexibility, while the rest of us were expected to pick up their slack for $0 extra and work all the crap shifts and holidays. I wondered if anyone would notice if I just kept the pic of the kid who came with the frame. |
| What trauma did SHE have to have a fake doll baby with a nursery? This sounds sad to me is age normal ofherwisw? |
|
I can't believe you said those things. You were feeding the mental illness. At least you didn't rock him or change his diaper.
It could have been worse, she could have pulled her boob out in front of you and breast fed the doll. Honestly, your story is unsurprising here in DC. |
