Georgetown Prep mask optional?

Anonymous
My DC told me this and wondering if other independent schools will follow? We are crossing fingers.

So far I know of Mater Dei, Heights, and Holy Child.

Any others? Would love to compile a list as they announce!

I really hope SR does this soon if these other schools have moved to mask optional.

GP was maybe one of the stricter schools with Covid so hopefully because they have access to information that the public doesn’t have.

What on earth are you compiling a list for?

At some point critical mass will push others to follow. I like the idea of “optional” because it it may take our family time to adjust but good to know it is available. For example maybe my child wants the mask on while changing classes or for a
crowded class but wants it off if they feel class isn’t crowded or working in a small group or with a teacher. There is a lot to this but options are a good thing. We cannot mask forever and not giving kids a choice when we have a choice seems wrong.

We are just getting use to 2500 people dying/day and 8 hr wait times at hospitals without nursing support like we’ve had in the past.

It’s just a new way of thinking/living.

Maybe famous politicians in neighboring states who put similar statewide legislation in place have some influence

So that we can tick them off as they fall in line with parent/ student expectations. STA/ NCS/ Sidwell/ Maret/ GDS - are you listening?

Hospitals are just fine. People who choose not to get vaccinated might die. That's just the way it will be.

No need. They aren’t on the level of STA/NCS/Sidwell/Maret/GDS.

Not sure what this is supposed to mean, but pressure will be on all schools - including those in DC - the minute the mask mandate is dropped by the city, hopefully at the end of this month.
