Any thoughts on this? I was surprised to hear that a good friend of mine does not carry her regular Louis Vuitton handbag to work because she feels it screams luxury and that interprets the wrong way in an office setting.
Is that true? My coworkers have carried Chanel, Louis Vuitton, etc without me thinking twice. I carry a backpack due to balance issues I have so it’s a null point for me but what do others think? |
I don’t bring my luxury bags because I work for the government. I think it looks strange and unbecoming as a civil servant. But you do you! |
In general, it’s not tasteful to carry a bag with a lot of logos. But a classic luxury bag that is hard to identify unless you are savvy about fashion is always ok, if someone asks you can say it’s vintage. |
I’m a local government wonk and my boss proudly carries her LV bag and plops it on her desk. She is elegantly dressed and a refined, almost formal person and her bag suits her well. Not at all a snob.
I drag my plain leather Tory Burch bag to work everyday and don’t think a thing of it. |
That you are a shallow person |
When I was doing social service outreach, I stopped wearing my lone piece of expensive jewelry, my one carat diamond engagement ring. |
I think absolutely nothing. I did have some thoughts about the woman who used a plastic grocery bag as a purse but she also wore "work slippers" every day after lunch too. |
Depends on where you work. |
I will not notice what you carry to work. If someone tells me your bag is luxury, I still assume you saved for it or got a good deal on consignment. Carry what you find functional, cute, or convenient. |
I have a 5k Gucci backpack that I'd absolutely wear to the office if I worked. |
I have to admit I never even pay attention to the purses people carry, unless they look super handy. But I don't notice logos or brands. |
Lol - can I have some cake? |
I swear we have this conversation over and over again. LV Neverfulls are super, duper basic. Half of the 20-30 year olds I work with have one (I'd say maybe 30% of them are fake). It's not a big deal.
*I work for the government. |
OMG half of the women I work with have LV bags. The other half have that ubiquitous boring Madewell bag. |
Way more than 30% of them are fake. |
