I’m in CCDC and I wish the nimbys would STFU.
By the time this library is done, my children will be in college. They’re currently in lower elementary. Just do something so people can enjoy the communal spaces. The Shaw library will have been renovated *twice* in 20 years. The dumb NIMBYS are the reason all of CCDC looks like a half abandoned old mining town. Safeway won’t do any more renovations because they don’t want to deal with the push back of the NIMBYS, so we’re stuck with an awful defunct grocery store. Then we get a rotting gross library and community center because they’re throwing a tantrum. It’s just awful. |

It is pretty evenly split, but the NIMBYs are prosecuting lawsuits against the city based on reverse discrimination grounds. They have somehow adopted the "social housing" mantra as a reason to oppose the development, claiming they want more affordable housing and for it to be a fully public asset and they have somehow bamboozled Janeese to this perspective, though she actually believes it. I applaud her for that, but let's get this project going now so it gets done before 2030. |

It's evenly split among the 20% of the population that bothered to weigh in. 80% of the people probably want new facilities if given the choice...though I doubt they use either very much today so don't necessarily care all that much. |

The courts have dismissed the Chevy Chase Voice reverse racist lawsuit against the city.
The city has added workforce housing to the mix. 25 units to bring the total of affordable housing units to around 46% of the project. Anyone who was at the ANC meeting last night would know how much of an embarrassment the ANC behavior was. The ANC invited DMPED and submitted 55 questions for response. DMPED came with an extensive power point presentation and written responses to those questions. But what happened? The meeting devolved into the opposition ANC members asking leading questions with half-truths and innuendo doing nothing more than inflaming the other project opponents who were there. And kudos to the one guy who shouted at the end that the ANC and project opponents about their behavior and lack of decorum. I cannot believe that one lady kept giving the one African-American ANC Commissioner the finger throughout her Q&A and no one had the stones to call her out. Chevy Chase - where MAGA is alive and well. |
