Are you kidding? We are talking about the VA GOP legislators here. From 2012-2020, the VA Republicans forced women to get a vaginal probe and 24-hr waiting period before getting an abortion. This was happening up until LAST YEAR when the Ds took over.

And the 2021 Rs are even crazier than the 2012 Rs. Of course they will try to pull that Texas crap here.

Youngkin's supporters are extreme. The book banning, 'stolen election' ranting, support of the insurrection, etc. are all perfect examples of this.

We know that Youngkin wants to criminalize abortion because of his own public statements on the issue.

Because Youngkin said he was concerned about election integrity, because SOME supporters were concerned about sexually explicit books being taught in high school, and I’m not sure which supporters said they were in support of the insurrection. We’re not chaining ourselves together blocking the entrance to Planned Parenthood. I watched in horror on January 6, I even turned someone in to the FBI. The average Virginian doesn’t take kindly to people making false generalizations or stereotypes about us, especially ones that are so way off base. And it will have the opposite effect as intended like that LP shenanigans on Friday. It will only make us like you less, when we prefer just to play well with others and get along.

DP. You are right that Republicans were forced to abandon the transvaginal ultrasound requirement because Virginians felt the Republican was too extreme a violation of women’s bodily integrity. But Republicans did enact a mandatory waiting period and abdominal ultrasound in order to get an abortion.

If Republicans get control they will try to implement the same (and worse) again.

Up until LAST YEAR (when Ds took over) the GOP required women to get an u/s and wait 24 hrs. Politicians forced unnecessary medical procedures on women for almost a decade.

And that was 2012 Republicans. 2021 Republicans are even more insane. They will not hesitate to push the Texas-style ban.
