Cancel trip to Cancun?

Over the summer we booked a family trip to Cancun. We are leaving in about 20 days. Two kids, 1 vaccinated and the other too young. We would mainly stay at the resort. Would you still go?

What is your plan for the airport? Will the resort send a team to escort you from security to the van?

The airport has become increasing dangerous. Guns are carried openly and the aggression of grabbing bags and demanding huge tips has gotten out of control. Its not a situation I would go into with a child unless there is someone with muscles bringing you through the chaos.

Yes.

Of course. Why would you not?

I would see if they can have some waiting RIGHT when you pass the “no returns” security checkpoint. Make sure it’s someone willing to protect guests.

Getting from security to the airport van is the very most dangerous part of the trip. Do everything you can to get out of that airport as fast as possible - no checked luggage, etc

I wouldn’t worry as much about Covid as about the crime increase, even on tourist beaches. Just do do some research on that and decide if you feel comfortable. The Covid would not be my primary concern, but I would check the infection rates where I was going. Plus, restrictions on coming home if one of you tests positive ie if you need to quarantine there at your own expense.

Heck no. The drug cartels are coming to the resorts! Tallum, xcaret. The are battling over drugs for tourists.

Yeah it’s just salespeople trying to sell timeshares and tours, like it’s always been. I just got back. It was exactly the same as the other two dozen times I’ve been.

I’ve heard about the cartel stuff, the shootings on the beaches. I haven’t heard anything at all about the airport…..

How would collecting checked bags before immigration/customs mean you face more people bugging you for timeshares or tips?
